Yesterday I went to this office to send off a rather large box, two boxes securely taped together, with one label. I was told by Nicole who said she worked for FedEx for 15 years, that there was a rule you can't tape boxes together. I worked for one of the big three for 40 years and it's not a problem provided the boxes are the same size and securely taped or strapped together. Plus, this is exactly how it was delivered to me. Customers choice. It wasn't opened, it was requested by the company to send it back the same way as they shipped it. She then put it on the scale to weigh it, because she probably figured that would be her next excuse that it was too heavy for ground but it wasn't. And since she wasn't going to accept the box there was really no other reason to weigh it. When I came home I called FedEx, I explained the situation, I explained the Box, how it was taped together, how it only had one label, how it weighed 40 lb, and how she refused to accept it. Guess what, today they picked up the box from my home. I also did a little more research and found that FedEx "doesn't recommend" taping boxes together but nowhere did I find it says you can't do it. So I appreciate FedEx for doing the right thing, as for Nicole thumbs down on her job, she wasted my time, her time, customers behind me time, FedEx's time, and the driver that had to come to my home to pick up the package. When all she had to do was scan a label.
