  On February 9, 2024, I stopped at this subway with a college athletic team for lunch. One of our team members had a service dog. After we have already started ordering our sandwiches, the cashier told us dogs weren't allowed inside. I explained it was a service dog, but the cashier insisted otherwise, asking the dog to leave. The cashier then summoned the store manager while we waited for our sandwiches, who reiterated the policy that pets were not allowed. I again explained that this was a working service dog, detailing its role and tasks. Despite this, the manager ostentatiously called the store owner, returning to inform me that they would make a "one-time exception" but warned against bringing a service dog inside in the future. We would have left if we hadn't already ordered, so I asked the team to wait away from the counter. I didn't want the student with a disability to further endure public humiliation from this Subway's staff and management. The incident upset our team, and we regretted stopping at Subway. It's unacceptable and disappointing that Subway's staff, including the manager and owner, seemed unaware of state laws regarding service dogs. --------- Update, February 14th: I received a phone call from the owner of the Glenwood Springs Subway, and unfortunately, it exacerbated an already difficult situation. The owner monopolized the conversation, contradicting what the manager had relayed to us when we were in the store. He insinuated that the manager may have misunderstood him because "she is Hispanic," and then offered an explanation, suggesting that a university team wearing school uniforms, accompanied by a coach and a university van parked outside, could somehow have been mistaken for the homeless population exploiting Colorado's law allowing service animals in establishments. Once the owner finished speaking, he essentially ended the conversation. This was not a genuine apology, and his arrogant tone only served to infuriate.
