We had an insanely bad experience with this UPS store, especially the manager, Janet. We shipped out a very important box to ourselves as we were moving on 7/5, insured it for $400, marked it fragile, and paid $262 to ship. Tracking seemed to make sense until 7/9 when suddenly it stopped. We contacted UPS customer service and were told it was lost. We then went down MANY different branches of the UPS company including the claims department, the actual shipping facilities, Human Resources, and this actual store. This took weeks as we were trying to locate our box with very sentimental and valuable items in it. After countless phone calls and endless searching on our end, we found out on 7/24 that our package never even made it to the first facility in Sylmar. All "scans" on our package were assumed scans, meaning nobody ever physically scanned it. A robot just decided that it would make sense that it had moved, so it told us it moved, when it actually hadn’t. We then called the store to ask for the information of the truck it got on. They couldn’t tell us. We had asked for the end of day reports to be sent to the claims department a week or 2 earlier. Janet claimed she had sent these, but the claims department said they never received end of day reports from this store. We then asked for the footage. This is on 7/24, we had called the store many times prior to this trying to gather any information possible on where this box could’ve possibly gone. We were told to wait for Janet, so we did. She said she would look and call us back. We did not hear for quite a while so we called again. She said she had it, but then realized she was looking at the wrong day. No worries. She said she’d look again and call us right back. We didn’t hear again for a while, so we called again. Then we’re told she decided to take over an hour long lunch break instead of giving us the call back? So we were told to wait again. At this point, the 2 of us are on the verge of a breakthrough of finding our very important package that we’d put so much time into looking for, so we were eagerly awaiting the information. After her lunch, she finally called. We were told we were 1 day too late for the footage, it had been deleted, and that there was absolutely nothing she could do for us. Every question we asked was overlooked. She did not care at all that their facility and their bad bookkeeping was most likely the reason for the loss of our package. We asked about what trucks could’ve come and gotten it, she said she didn’t know. We had more questions, mostly about how this could’ve possibly happened, and how could we track it down. She said there was nothing she could do, said "one sec" put us on hold, and then went home for the day. She left the store instead of having a conversation with us about her stores error. She is the manager. Something happened there that was a major mistake, and their cooperation could’ve helped us find our package. Instead we were met with a manager who clearly does not care about anything at that job. She didn’t want to talk to us, she did not take us seriously, and she claimed to send reports that she never did. The man I spoke to who told us she left screamed at us through the phone about how we gave her a headache. I do not know his name, he sounded older. He thought that we thought that they stole our package. We did not think that. We spoke about possibly needing to get police involved in order to retrieve the footage. What it sounds like to me, is that Janet realized there was an error, tried to do everything she could to hide it from us, and then got a headache from having to deal with it, so she left. That was our experience with this store. The loss of our package, in which were items I received from our dead relatives, was an error on so many levels of the UPS corporation, including this store. We are devastated, we lost some of the most sentimental things we own because we thought shipping and keeping up with our tracking would be a safe option. We hope somebody above Janet sees this and is able to help us.
