Today I went to Subway excited to enjoy a sandwich, as I had not eaten for several hours. I ordered a Sweet Onion Chicken sandwich and requested only a small amount of tomatoes, lettuce, and onions, along with extra olives. I understand that additional toppings may come with an extra charge, and I had no problem paying the difference.
However, I felt that the employee assisting me was rude and unprofessional. When I asked for extra olives, she immediately stated that I would be charged extra. I told her that was perfectly fine and that I was willing to pay. Despite this, she only placed a very small amount of olives in the center of the sandwich. When I politely asked if she could add more, she repeatedly told me that I would have to pay extra, even after I had already agreed to the additional charge.
She then explained that they usually only put three pieces of each topping on the sandwich and continued saying that she wished she could give me more, but that her boss was there and would get upset. I found this explanation confusing, especially since I observed other customers receiving the toppings they requested without any issues.
As a paying customer, I believe that if I am willing to pay for additional toppings, I should be able to receive the amount requested within the store’s guidelines. The interaction left me feeling uncomfortable and singled out, and I was disappointed by the lack of customer service I experienced.
I wish I would’ve had gotten her name, but unfortunately I didn’t. All I could remember is that she was around her 40’s, short and chubby with orange hair Hispanic.
