  It was noisy, room smelled, a little too far from downtown San Diego about 25 minutes. Very good customer service and breakfast, there was sausage, scrambled eggs, toast, wafflea, fruits, juice and good coffee.

  Very basic hotel experience. Nothing special. I did notice some stains on the carpet. I will not come back here. The staff and housekeeping is amazing, however. It's just the rooms are outdated and I feel it's unreasonable to charge this much for this hotel honestly. Location is off of the beaten path and not close to anything. A lot of noise in the area due to it being near a freeway off ramp.

  Please don’t stay here. The neighbor across the street, the Courtyard by Marriott, does not cost much more and the quality difference is huge. This place was recommended to us by the CA State Games, and it was a dump. We originally booked four nights, and left after two. To leave early, we had to pay full price for the first two nights ($317/night), and I left feeling scammed. As far as the rooms go, AC didn’t work in our first room, so we had to move to a new room immediately after check-in. Upon entering, I noticed the gap under the exterior door was at least an inch. All kinds of noise, bugs, light, etc. could enter the room. The carpet hadn’t been thoroughly vacuumed for a long time. After turning on the lights, it became apparent the bed sheets were stained. We found out quickly the toilet would barely flush and the vanity sink could barely drain. There was also barely any space to hang or store personal items. The noise at night from the jets was also really loud. I also want to note another family traveling with us left after two nights because they found bed bugs and their daughters had bites. Only positive was that the front-facing staff was nice, but I rarely encounter rude staff at any hotel. With a much nicer, competitively priced Marriott across the street that also has nice staff, there is no reason to say at the Best Western San Diego/Miramar Hotel unless your budget is really tight. For budget travel in the future, I may never stay at a Best Western again.

  Some of the best staff I’ve encountered in a long time — truly outstanding customer service. While the surrounding area isn’t the greatest, the room prices were perfect for what we needed. We were in town for a softball tournament, and the location made it easy to get to the fields in a reasonable amount of time. The breakfast was hot, tasty, and easy to access, which was a huge plus for our early mornings. The rooms are a bit dated, but the beds were comfortable, and again, the price made it a great fit for our stay. Overall, a solid value with excellent staff and convenient access for tournament travel.

  DO NOT STAY HERE WITH FAMILIES. We booked this hotel with a group rate because it was recommended for a sports tournament. The room was horrible. We switched rooms in hopes it would be better and it was worse. The room smelled like cigarettes and cologne, it hadn’t been vacuumed, there was hair in my daughter’s bed, and a blunt in the air conditioner vent. When we wanted to check out early, the manager was unreasonable and said we had to pay the standard rate of the hotel since we booked on a group rate. We had to pay $714 for two nights. Most of our group left because of the condition of the hotel. This should not be recommended to families and not an appropriate place to host a sports team.
