I’m genuinely excited to be writing this because, for the first time in YEARS, Subway in Paradise feels like an option again.
We’ve tried this location a few times since living here and eventually stopped going. The prices were significantly higher than other Subways we’d visited, this specific location often chose not to participate in Subway’s national promotional offers, and the quality didn’t justify the cost. Two people could easily walk out spending $30–$40 for sandwiches, chips and drinks. Especially in this area, that math simply didn’t make sense.
So Subway basically disappeared from our list of places to eat.
Today we decided to check again and were pleasantly surprised to see new options and promotions, including a Sub of the Day. Zelli got a footlong ham for $7.99, I got a footlong BLT, we each got a cookie, and our entire meal was around $20.
THAT is the Subway experience we remembered.
We also noticed signs announcing NEW MANAGEMENT, so naturally we asked about it. Justin, the employee helping us, explained that major changes were happening and that they were essentially rebuilding the location from the ground up, including addressing pricing. He said he was the only employee remaining from the previous staff and seemed genuinely excited about the direction the store is heading.
And Justin was fantastic—friendly, conversational and made our sandwiches exactly how we wanted them.
What was especially interesting was watching other customers come in while we were there. It quickly became apparent that we were definitely not the only people who had stopped being happy with this location. Customers were openly talking about their frustrations with the previous operation, the pricing, and how happy they were that things were changing. People also seemed genuinely happy that Justin was still there.
That told us a LOT.
Paradise has lost so many businesses since the fire, and our affordable fast-food choices on the mountain are still pretty limited. We’ve eaten enough Taco Bell to last several lifetimes. 😂 Having another place where two people can actually get a filling meal without wondering how two sandwiches somehow became a $40 event is genuinely welcome.
The higher pricing and lack of participation in national Subway promotions were two of the biggest things keeping us away, and while obviously we’ve only experienced the new management once so far, this visit was a HUGE improvement.
Our sandwiches were good, the price finally made sense, Justin provided excellent service, and for the first time in a long time we left thinking:
“Okay… we can actually come back here.”
So welcome, new management. 👏 Please keep going in this direction. Keep the prices reasonable, participate in more of the promotions people expect from Subway, maintain the food quality, and take care of employees like Justin who clearly have goodwill with your customers.
We’re rooting for this comeback—and we’ll absolutely be back. 🥪❤️
