When I arrived at this Subway, the restaurant was completely empty, and after my experience, I honestly understand why.
From the moment I walked in, Judy was extremely unwelcoming and rude. I was polite and respectful throughout the entire interaction, but she made the experience very uncomfortable.
I asked for extra jalapeños, and she added only a few. I asked again for a little more, and her attitude immediately changed as if I was bothering her. If a customer asks for extra toppings, there is no reason to make them feel uncomfortable for simply asking.
The sandwich itself was also poorly made. I asked for spinach, cucumber, and avocado, including a whole avocado. There were only a few leaves of spinach, and the sandwich was so poorly assembled that when I got home, a large portion of the avocado was outside of the bread. The sandwich was practically falling apart.
The most concerning part, however, was the food-safety issue. I noticed she was using a knife that had been used with tomato and then placed that same knife on my avocado. I specifically asked her to use another knife because I have an allergy, and instead of taking the concern seriously, she made a face and made me feel even more uncomfortable.
I have actually worked at Subway before, and I have never experienced service like this. I understand that working in food service can be stressful, but customers should still be treated respectfully, and allergy concerns should always be taken seriously.
This was not just about the sandwich. It was the attitude, the lack of care when preparing my food, and especially how my allergy concern was handled. I left feeling extremely uncomfortable and disappointed. I hope management takes this seriously and makes sure employees are properly trained on both customer service and food-safety procedures.
