This is an older hotel. However it was very clean and we had a 2nd door to a courtyard patio. The free breakfast was plated (not a buffet) and was excellent. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful and the waitress was awesome and gave us two activities to check out while in town. On two separate occasions a house maintenance person and a outside worker, greeted me, asked me how my stay has been and wished me a good day! So friendly. Truly grateful we picked this hotel.

We stayed at the Best Western Plus Tree House in Mount Shasta as 28 guests for five nights, and unfortunately this was one of the worst hotel experiences I have had — both as a guest and as someone with professional hotel management experience. Our reservation was made months in advance and included breakfast. From the first days, breakfast service was extremely disorganized: dirty tables, long waits — sometimes close to two hours — incorrect orders, delays even for basic items such as water and coffee, and interactions with staff that we found unnecessarily rude and unprofessional as Europeans, where priority to American quests was given. What disappointed us most was what happened when we asked for solutions. We raised our concerns directly, firmly and with a straightforward tone, but always respectfully. We were not asking for special treatment; we were asking for solutions and for the services our group had booked and paid for. Instead of addressing those concerns constructively, we felt ignored and were characterized as rude or impolite simply because we continued requesting a solution. There is a significant difference between being disrespectful to staff and being a paying guest who firmly asks management to resolve repeated service problems. In fact, when the hotel was unable to offer us a workable solution, we proposed one ourselves: a dedicated buffet and breakfast time for our group, designed to make the service easier for both the staff and our 28 guests. Management accepted it. Unfortunately, the buffet was not properly prepared at the agreed starting time. Food arrived gradually and significantly late, and because our group had scheduled activities, some guests had already eaten what was available or had to leave by the time additional food arrived. Management later referred to the remaining food as “waste,” despite the delays in providing it. What followed was even more concerning. Management decided to discontinue breakfast for our group, even though breakfast was included in our reservation and continued to be available to other hotel guests. We did not request the cancellation, did not agree to it, and were not properly informed beforehand. We discovered the decision indirectly the night before. We also experienced housekeeping problems, with rooms going two consecutive days without service and no effective solution being offered after we raised the issue. There was also a concerning incident at the hotel bar involving a member of our group being subjected to different payment conditions from other guests. We have retained documentation of this incident, together with emails, photographs and other evidence relating to our complaint. Operational difficulties can happen in any hotel. Having worked in hotel management myself, I understand that very well. What matters is how management responds: communication, professionalism, service recovery and the willingness to find solutions. In our experience, instead of resolving repeated problems, our requests for solutions were treated as a problem themselves. Communication deteriorated, our concerns were characterized as impolite, and ultimately a service that our group had already booked and paid for was withdrawn during our stay. For 28 paying guests staying five nights, this was far below the standard of hospitality, organization, communication and service recovery that we expected from a property carrying the Best Western Plus name. This was genuinely one of the worst stays I have experienced, both personally as a guest and from the perspective of someone with professional hotel management experience.

We booked room with mountain view. But the room is behind another building, which blocks most of the view. See figure below. Based on the front desk lady, as long as you can see the mountain, that is mountain view room and all mountain view rooms are like this, so no room exchange. Seems that is how they define mountain view. Please consider before booking, the view may be less than you expected. Room condition is another issue. Equipments are old and kind of falling apart. See figure below. The location is very good, even with above issues. It’s close to the lake and mountain.

I stayed at the Best Western Plus Tree House in Mount Shasta for three nights in mid-July 2026, and it was easily one of the nicest, cleanest, and quietest hotels I found in the area. There is a train track nearby, but don’t let that deter you from staying here! The hotel does an excellent job insulating the rooms from the sound, and I had no trouble getting a great night’s sleep. The beds are super comfortable, too. What really impressed me, though, was the customer service. In my haste to catch my flight—I had to drive all the way back to Medford, Oregon—I accidentally left a couple of items behind. Christine and Ari went above and beyond to make sure my belongings were mailed back to me. I really appreciated the care and effort they put into helping me. This is a hotel that genuinely cares about its guests, and if I’m ever back in the Mount Shasta area, I will absolutely stay here again. It is a little pricier than some of the other hotels in the area, but it’s worth it for the cleanliness, comfort, quiet rooms, and excellent service. The location is also really convenient. There’s a large grocery store within walking distance, and the movie theater is right across the way. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

8/7/2026 4:45pm. The young male server was unprofessional and rude. Our table was visibly dirty, so we asked if he could please wipe it down again because the table was sticky and you could see leftover food on the table. His response is well that's just the finish on the table...really?! Why not just wipe the table down again without speaking your opinion, bro. The table was dirty with food on it, then proceeds to wipe down the table and throw all the food from the table into my lap. So absolutely unprofessional, this young male obviously doesn't like his job, and is obviously extremely incompetent. Our party decided to leave and go to the Mexican restaurant across the street. All of the lady servers were so sweet, and kind. Oh and not to mention the tables were actually clean, not sticky with food on them. Puerto Vallarta was fabulous. So thank you very much for your rude male employee allowing us to find a new place to go eat dinner.
