I usually choose this UPS Store because it’s close to my home. Even though I pass a FedEx location on the way, I still come here because most of my return labels are for UPS. Unfortunately, the customer service at this location has been consistently unfriendly. The employees rarely greet customers, always seem stone-faced, and never make you feel welcome or appreciated. Ironically, the owner has always been the complete opposite helpful , professional, and pleasant.
On Thursday, July 23, at approximately 4:22 p.m., I had one of the worst experiences I’ve had at this location. There were two male employees and a female employee with glasses whom I had never seen before. After she finished helping the customer ahead of me, it became my turn. Instead of helping the next customer, she walked away from the register to assist one of the male employees for no apparent reason.
The male employee then helped me, but he was rude from the start. He rushed the transaction, snatched my package and paperwork, and acted as though I was inconveniencing him. When I asked him to place the shipping label over a previous label he responded with obvious annoyance and handled it in a disrespectful manner.
As I was walking out, I heard the female employee laughing loudly immediately after my interaction with him. Whether it was directed at me or not, the timing made it feel incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful.
I went back inside to ask how I could contact the owner because I wanted him to know about my experience. While I was speaking to one of the employees, the female employee interrupted, and I let her know that I would be contacting the owner.
I have continued to patronize this location because of its convenience, but this experience was enough to make me reconsider. If possible, I will start asking merchants to provide FedEx return labels instead so I can avoid this store altogether. Customer service costs nothing, and customers deserve to be treated with courtesy and respect.
