I need to rant and rave about Violet. Just to be clear, 5 STATS IS FOR THIS SPECIFIC UPS STORE, NOT UPS.
I ordered a package to come priority overnight, which was supposed to be delivered on Thursday. However, the person shipping to me put a slightly wrong address. It was held by UPS as undelivered, and then was set to be redelivered (to the same wrong address).
When changing the delivery address to the correct one, which was literally next door, UPS somehow made it to where the package was now set to be delivered on Monday, though my package was only a block away from me the entire time and I paid $300 to ship this item. Unfortunately for me, I had a flight on Monday.
I called several people at UPS, and every time the answer was, “I can only see what the system tells me.” It was so bad, representatives were even telling me that the package won’t be available for pickup, EVEN THOUGH THE PACKAGE WAS WITH UPS AND THEY WERE JUST TAKING IT TO THE UPS STORE LESS THAN A MILE AWAY FROM THE DISTRO CENTER.
I drove to the UPS store, with a rental car that I needed to drop off before taking a taxi to
LAX. I got to the store, explained the situation to Violet, in a last-ditch effort to retrieve my package. She called UPS from the store, and had an even worse experience than I did! So, rather than waiting for an AI to tell her what to do, or saying “sorry, the system says this,” she did what humans used to do in the 90s and 2000s … she’s HELPED me. She located exactly which truck my package was on, called the driver, and asked if he could come to the store early to deliver my package. In the meantime, I went around the corner, returned the rental car, walked back with all my luggage, with total uncertainty of what I would come back to.
To my surprise, there was Violet, scanning my package in, with the driver wondering who I must have been to this woman for her to do such a big thing for me.
This happened 8 months ago in December. I promised Violet that day that the least I could do was write a review. But I owe this woman much more than that. This goes beyond customer service, this is a human fighting to help humans in a world where everything is forcing you to talk to a chat bot or someone in another country while your problem is 0.3 miles away from you. In a world where connecting with people is less and less of a premium, and we’re just sitting here accepting it for some reason. I literally love this woman, and she and the rest of the staff there deserve all the flowers in the world. I might have to go back to this UPS store just to find her again and thank her!!
