I checked the hours before I went but when I got there, the store was closed with a little clock in the window that said, we'll be back. I had to wait half an hour. I read online that I was eligible to upgrade my phone for around $79.99. So that's what I expected when I went in. I dealt with the owner and when he added things I never asked for it was over $200! I think he charged me around $140 for just the phone, almost double the price. He said that's for the set-up. I told him my understanding was you could just do that yourself online. And he said, yes, but it's very difficult to do, and most people can't do it or they mess it up. The other doozy was for three months of insurance. I never asked him for insurance. He said, you have to get insurance. When you buy a car, you get insurance. So when you buy a phone, you have to get insurance. I said, when you buy a car, it's the law, but it's not required for my phone. And he said, after three months you can just cancel it. I said, but I don't want it at all. I didn't ask you for insurance. He argued with me quite a bit and insisted that I had to have insurance for at least three months, paid upfront. He had already charged me for 3 months of insurance and said he couldn't refund it, and then he decided he could when he saw it was a deal-breaker. He didn't ask me if I wanted a screen protector, but just included it into the pricing, at $59! I later bought a nice, sturdy case (with a screen protector included) on Amazon for $11, put it on myself. Seems to be fine. As I've gotten older, I no longer get excited or let my anger show. So the whole time I spoke with him in a conversational, courteous tone, I never raised my voice or got excited. But several times, he became very strident to say the least, raised his voice, and expressed great frustration with me because I didn't want these extra wildly inflated upgrades. He tried to make me feel like I was being unreasonable. I wasn't. So I got out of there finally, paying almost double for my phone just to be done with it. Not a pleasant experience. Next time, I'll just do it online.
