  We bought our home in 2018 and have had Allstate ever since, never filing a single claim. When we converted the property into a furnished Airbnb, we specifically called Allstate to update our policy. The agent recommended a more expensive policy designed to cover the home and the furniture inside. When a tenant recently destroyed the property, we submitted a claim on July 2nd with complete documentation, including a police report. It took Allstate 20 days—until July 22nd—to tell us the claim was denied because "tenant damage isn't covered." This experience was a complete failure on two fronts: 1. Deceptive Sales: The main risk of running an Airbnb is tenant damage. Selling us an upgraded, higher-premium rental policy that excludes tenant damage feels completely deceptive. 2. Costly Delays: They knew it was tenant damage on Day 1 from our police report. Instead of telling us immediately, they made us wait nearly three weeks for an in-person adjuster—forcing us to pay out-of-pocket for someone to meet them, freezing our ability to start repairs, and causing almost a full month of lost rental income. After six years of loyal payments, Allstate was nowhere to be found when we actually needed them. Save your money and take your business to an insurer that actually stands behind the policies they sell.
