The Good: reasonable rate relative to other hotels with equivalent amenities. Free hot breakfast, pool and spa, fantastic water pressure, great Nescafe coffee machine and Tazo tea in lobby 24/7, underground parking included in hotel rate, Pharmacopeia toiletries, spacious room with balcony, great manager and helpful staff other than Jay - Anne The Bad: nondescript appearance, streetside rooms overlook a shell gas station. The Truly Ugly: Front desk clerk Jay-Anne should be fired or moved to back of house where she doesn't have to interact with guests. When we checked in, she didn't welcome us or offer a smile. Her manner is very abrupt. E.g., when I said I am checking in, she said, without a smile, "I need your ID and credit card.". Not "Hello. Welcome to our hotel." Nothing pleasant. In the evening when we came back from dinner, she saw my partner with her service dog and she said in front of several hotel guests in the most accusing manner: "You have a pet?!?" Even though we walked right past her with the dog after check in. I said, "She is a service animal.". Oh, she said. Not sorry. Just, "oh." The forecourt has only 2 parking spaces for large vehicles. We were lucky to get one for our 26 ft RV when we arrived to check in. The next morning we asked her if she would be so kind as to save us our spot as we were going sightseeing in the RV. "The hotel policy is first come first served," she said. I explained to her that we could not fit in their underground garage and that Banff does not allow overnight parking of RVs. "You can park at the train station," she said. Now mind you, the train station is over a kilometer from the hotel. More importantly, no overnight parking is allowed there either. (There is simply NO OVERNIGHT parking allowed anywhere in Banff except on private property.) She ignored this and repeated the policy is first come first served and she could not reserve the only space that we, as hotel guests, could use. My 80-year-old mother then began pleading with her and Jay-Anne simply hardened her tone and kept repeating like a robot, "it is the hotel policy. I cannot save you a space." When we returned to the hotel in the afternoon, an ordinary car was in the space, one that could have easily fit in the underground garage. I went to the front desk to tell them we would have to find another place to stay and dispute the credit card charge since they could not provide us with a parking space. There was a different woman at the desk and when I showed her my RV, she said, oh, we saved this space for you. She pointed out an area that was not really a parking space but the area right to the left of the hotel entrance. We would effectively block half the front driveway and half the entrance to the garage. Plus it was in front of the enclosed pool area, so the RV now blocked the pool guests' view of the mountain. It was the most inane and stupid spot. Although we were grateful for it, I asked her why didn't Jay-Anne just save the spot we asked her to save. The woman had no answer. She just shrugged and said Jay- Anne told her to save us a spot. So instead of just saving the actual parking space that we asked her to, Jay-Anne ignored us and then must have realized at some point when the car took that spot that we would have nowhere to park. Perhaps she verified what I told her which is that there is No overnight parking for RVs in Banff and we would therefore have nowhere to park. Her behavior demonstrates utter incompetence, lack of common sense and lack of hospitality, not just for us, but for the other guests as well due to spot she ended up saving for us despite insisting that she wouldn't and couldn't save a spot. It's not just the parking decision. I watched the other woman check in a guest and it was night and day compared to Jay-Anne. The woman was pleasant and welcoming and had a smile on her face. Jay-Anne should be fired or moved to the back office where she has ZERO interaction with guests.

Un peu excentré, pas très luxueux et un peu vieillot. Mais bon, c'est confortable et ça fait le job. La piscine est basique mais pas mal.

We booked four rooms for our family, and unfortunately our experience was overshadowed by the receptionist’s behavior. From the moment we checked in, she had a dismissive attitude and was consistently rude. She answered most of our questions with one or two word responses, and spoke to us in an arrogant, unwelcoming manner. She didn’t even inform us that we had access to complimentary parking in the basement, which is basic information guests should be told at check-in. It genuinely felt as though we were asking for a favor rather than paying guests checking into a hotel. Customer service is a huge part of the hotel experience, and this level of behavior was completely unnecessary and unacceptable. On a positive note, the rooms themselves were decent and met our expectations, but the poor service at reception left a very negative first impression.
