I am writing to make a formal complaint regarding my stay at Premier Inn Uttoxeter and, in particular, the failure to provide the housekeeping service that was specifically requested and confirmed by the hotel manager, Tom.
When we arrived, our room already had a noticeable unpleasant smell, and we had to purchase air fresheners ourselves to make the room comfortable. I also found empty quilt/storage bags underneath the bed, which I found unacceptable from a cleanliness and presentation perspective.
The most serious issue occurred today.
We specifically requested housekeeping for our room at 10:00am, while another room in our party requested housekeeping at 8:00am. These requests were made directly to the hotel manager, Tom, who confirmed that they would be completed.
We then spent the entire day out with the children at Alton Towers. After being out in the heat, walking around and going on rides all day, the children were understandably exhausted, hot and sweaty. We were expecting to return to a clean room where the children could shower, rest and relax.
Instead, when we returned, no housekeeping had attended our room whatsoever.
What makes this particularly frustrating is that this was not simply a request that was forgotten at reception. We spoke directly with the hotel manager and relied on his confirmation that the room would be serviced.
When I reported this to reception, I was told that there was no housekeeping available at that point. I was offered towels and tissues, but there was no actual solution to the fact that our room had not been cleaned as promised.
At this point, I do not believe simply providing towels and tissues adequately resolves the situation.
I am therefore requesting appropriate compensation for the service failure and the significant inconvenience caused during our stay. We paid for accommodation with the expectation of receiving a clean and properly serviced room, and we did not receive the level of service we were promised.
I would like Premier Inn to consider a meaningful partial refund or other appropriate compensation for the room/stay, rather than simply providing an apology.
I would also like the matter investigated specifically with the hotel manager, Tom, as he personally confirmed the housekeeping request with us. I would like to understand why a request made and confirmed by management was not fulfilled.
This has significantly affected our stay, particularly because we are travelling with children and returned from a full day at Alton Towers expecting to be able to relax in a clean room.
I have stayed at hotels before and understand that occasional issues can happen. However, the combination of:
* The unpleasant smell when we initially arrived.
* Having to purchase air fresheners ourselves.
* Storage/quilt bags being left underneath the bed.
* A housekeeping request being specifically confirmed by the hotel manager.
* The confirmed housekeeping not taking place.
* No housekeeping being available when we returned.
* Having to raise the issue ourselves after an exhausting day out with children.
has left us extremely disappointed.
I would therefore appreciate a fair compensation offer and a proper investigation into what happened, rather than simply being told that housekeeping was unavailable.
At this stage, based on this experience, I would not choose to stay at this Premier Inn again and would not recommend this particular hotel to others.
I look forward to your response and, specifically, details of what compensation Premier Inn is prepared to offer.
Kind regards,L
