Booked a 2-night weekend break here due to its central location, which was handy for sightseeing, but the room and service were extremely disappointing.
Upon entering the room, there was a strong, musty odour. The windows had been left open, presumably to mask it, and it only faded after blasting the aircon for ages. However, every single time we returned to the room, the smell was back. The room felt very dated, the bathroom was old, and even the beds had a strange smell.
To make matters worse, the bathroom hygiene was appalling. I found what looked like a piece of false teeth stuck in the sink plug hole, which completely turned my stomach. The towels provided were as stiff as cardboard; I accidentally left one on the bed, slept on the rough edge, and woke up with a scraped, bleeding knee the next morning. On top of that, we asked reception for towels and it took ages to get a response.
Breakfast at the restaurant was another let-down. The tables were quite dirty, and the food replenishment was incredibly slow—we had to wait a while just for basic items to be restocked.
Given the price, it’s really poor value for money. Next time we’re in Edinburgh, we won't be staying here again. We'd much rather choose the Novotel next door or somewhere else for the same budget.
Girl on reception wasn't much help when we enquired about parking discount, told us they don't do it anymore, even though I had an email.a few days earlier telling me about it, guy on reception sorted it next morning, don't know if it was lack of experience but she really wasn't much use at all. Apart from that, it was a decent stay.

Disappointing. The place seemed to be run by only a couple of staff members at any given moment. You had to wait for nearly everything. Clearly they were trying to do too much with far too few staff members. In particular, the evening food for our tour group was disastrous. If you can't manage the minimum, then consider cutting back what you offer!
Oversold rooms so I had to change hotels. Ran out of breakfast items before I had come to breakfast. Understaffed and you'll wait forever to get something done

Good value for money and great location in Edinburgh centre.
Only let down was that we were hoping to have our evening meal at the hotel but unfortunately the restaurant was closed due to being pre booked for a private group / event.
As a result staff were extremely busy with the bar service also being slow.
I was unaware premier in restaurants could be closed to paying hotel guests.
