Friendly staff and a good location for onward travel to the channel tunnel (about 45 minutes drive away)
Unfortunately this is one of the old premier inns where they haven’t upgraded the air conditioning at all and it can’t cope with any kind of super hot weather so if you’re sensitive to heat when sleeping look elsewhere.
This hotel also has a train track running at the back of it, we didn’t find it to be an issue, trains went past roughly every hour but they were relatively quiet and didn’t disturb our sleep
Overall this is a premier inn, you know roughly what to expect but it’s impossible to recommend during hot weather due to the old outdated air conditioning that doesn’t work at all.
You know what you get at a PI but this is one of the best. Very clean and tidy room, nice breakfast (much better than at more expensive hotels I’ve stayed in) and staff who were friendly, helpful and frankly delightful. I’d stay here again and recommend to anyone.

I really enjoyed my stay at Rochester Premmy. Check in was easy with the manager & the evening team on the 8th & her teammate were so lovely & helpful & so was Eliza (HK).
Great hospitality all around!

Great 1 night stay here with the family for a gymnastics competition the following day.Excellent check in, very clean room and great breakfast.
I checked-out exasperated by an infuriating staff member...
My shower didn't work. Hot water worked from the bath taps, but the diverter was faulty such that only cold water came out the shower head. No big deal, pretty standard for things to fail in a budget hotel. I went to the front desk to say that I couldn't have a shower and could I have a new room so I could shower. The instant response was "no, you have hot water coming into the room so you can't have a new room". Frustrated, I said that's not good enough, I paid for a room with a shower etc. She disappeared for a bit then returned to say there's no rooms available and that I have hot water in the room so basically, that's good enough.
I don't really care about the shower, I'm not soft, it's the fact she was unapologetic about it. No offer of any token compensation or anything.
They said no-one had reported it faulty before which I find hard to believe. Room 206 if someone else reads this.
When I arrived late last night, the lady on the desk was lovely, so it's not like all the staff are bad, just half the ones I interacted with 😅.
