Having stayed in over 15 Premier Inns across the UK, I can honestly say that Premier Inn Bexleyheath is the worst I've experienced. The problems started before we even checked in. The paid basement car park felt dark, neglected and unsafe, with a strong smell of urine and poor lighting throughout. More concerning, there is no lift from the car park to the hotel, meaning our adult son, who uses a wheelchair and has special needs, had to struggle up a steep incline to reach reception. This is important information that should be clearly communicated to guests requiring accessible facilities.
Things only got worse from there.
When I asked a female receptionist/manager for a spare key card for my son's room in case of emergencies, I was made to feel as though I was doing something suspicious. What should have been a simple request turned into an uncomfortable interrogation that left me feeling embarrassed and distrusted.
The biggest shock, however, was our room.
There was faeces on the toilet seat, underneath the toilet seat, around the toilet area, on the bathtub and even on the bedding. When I reported this to the same female receptionist/manager , I was asked if I was sure we hadn't used the toilet ourselves. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Instead of receiving an immediate apology, I felt as though I was being accused of causing the mess.
She eventually came to clean the room, but only the most obvious contamination was removed. Other areas were left untouched, and the apology felt cold and reluctant. For the rest of our stay, we felt uncomfortable using the bathroom facilities knowing the room had not been properly cleaned.
The only reason we stayed was because we were attending a family funeral nearby. Otherwise, we would have checked out immediately.
By comparison, Premier Inn Dartford (The Bridge Business Park) is everything this hotel is not: clean rooms, fresh bedding, professional staff and excellent customer service.
Premier Inn Bexleyheath urgently needs to improve its housekeeping standards, customer service and accessibility information. Dirty rooms, poor customer service and a disappointing overall experience. Avoid if you can.
