I stayed at Premier Inn Inverness West on 14th May. 2 nights before, I'd stayed at the Travelodge in Stirling with a good, uncomplicated experience.
However, although I’ve stayed at Premier Inn Inverness West before, this night was my - worst / less than satisfactory – experience.
Their parking managers, Horizon Parking of Chelmsford, at first wanted to charge me £45 for not following their vehicle registration procedure (a procedure that I’d managed simply 2 nights before at the Stirling Travelodge) but after my appeal, with the overnight receipt from Premier Inns of £191.99, was reduced 14 DAYS after my submission of that evidence of my legitimate stay, to £15.
I have more in my life to worry about than £15, so I paid up to get these monkeys off my back.
I might mention that the drive from Fort Augustus through Drumnadrochit included having a timber lorry burst into flames in front of me – that is an hour and a half of my life that I won’t get back.
But back to Inverness West.
Parked up but no oblivious (at least to me) parking signs.
Went into the dimly lit reception area. And I do mean dimly lit – so I missed “free parking registration tablet”. At no point did the receptionist ask me if I’d completed the equally dimly lit parking registration tablet. How unlike the Travelodge people!
Not very good.
Considering that I’ve spent nearly £740 in the last 6 months with Premium Inns, I am now thinking that maybe Premier Inns isn’t my first choice.
Maybe I should buy a few shares in Whitbread plc, go to the next AGM in June 2027 and ask the directors about how much money they get from Horizon Parking.

This Premier Inn is located a little outside of town, but unfortunately the location was not the main issue. From the moment we arrived, the property gave a poor first impression. There were cigarette butts scattered around the front entrance, and the overall appearance of the hotel felt tired and in need of refurbishment.
The cleanliness of the public areas was also disappointing. The restaurant floor had bits of paper lying around, and there were several noticeable stains on the carpets. Overall, the hotel felt neglected and lacked the standard of cleanliness and upkeep that I have come to expect from Premier Inn.
With some investment in renovation and greater attention to housekeeping, this property could be much improved. Sadly, on this visit it did not meet expectations.
Will not be staying here again
Usual Premier Inn room - clean, tidy, spacious & well laid out.
Bit dissapointed in reception staff & restaurant.
Arrived around 18:15 after a busy day at work - person on reception was fine but seemed to be 'going through the motions'.
I was informed there was a 'big group booked in at 7 for dinner, so you better go see them quick' so popped in to the restaurant so see if there was a table available.
Bar person barely lifted their head "sorry, fully booked tonight"
Not idea after a long drive & a busy day.......
☆☆UPDATE☆☆
Thursday 11th June 26
Arrived for dinner (prebooked) at 1815. 2 waiting staff on, 1 clearly uninterested in anything & 1 working their socks off.
Ignored by lazy one, picked up by other girl, show to seat, order taken & all good, albeit after a 15 min wait.
Service went downhill from there, despite the younger, more 'on ut' girl trying her best.
Unfortunately cannot recommend this hotel - will not be staying here again

To keep this brief, my fiancee and I were road tripping around Scotland and when our rental car started having issues. This is where we pulled off. I didn't catch their names, but the two men working the front desk on May 16, 2026, between the hours of about 2:30 PM and 4:00 PM, could not have been nicer and more accommodating. They let us use their wifi to try and call our rental company, and when that inevitably didn't work they let us use the hotel landline. They gave us coffee, water, and even a beer (which they refused to let me pay for) while we waited for the rental company's mechanic. Also, one of the employees was working the front desk and serving us all those drinks, all while limping around in a medical "boot". I cannot thank them enough for their care and hospitality. If management ever reads this, GIVE THOSE TWO MEN A RAISE!
