I stayed here because I couldn't get a room at the Premier Inn at the airport (where I normally stay). This was my own fault, it was a bank holiday and I left booking till the last minute. Lesson learned here. I will avoid this place in future.
So, the good things:
1) they actually had a room available
2) staff were friendly and helpful
3) they had the normal vegan breakfast options
And now the bad things:
1) Slow WiFi
2) The corridor outside my room smelled of urine.
3) No vegan options for dinner (other than soup)
4) Only one functional lift for my stay - there should be two. This meant a bit of a wait to get to my room with my suitcase. Ended up using stairs when I did not have my case with me.
5) They seem to have restricted the max volume level of the TVs, which is fine on some channels, but not on others.
6) I think the air conditioning may not have been working. When I arrived in my room the window was open and there was a desk fan aimed at the bed. The noise from the fan (which I turned down) also made the volume restricted TV challenging to hear.
Whilst moving to an automated check-in, the staff on hand were very helpful - thanks.
Breakfast was fine as Premier Inn breakfasts go - and again staff were pleasant.
Room was clean enough but very tired. It feels like a hotel in line for refurbishment. In our room the ceiling light was flashing, furniture fascia peeling off, hair-dryer broken (with depleted staff I could not work out how to report these issues).
On the whole - what you’d expect.
The room was very tired and smelt if old smoke. The bed was not up to the usual premier inn standard. It was very hard. One of the two lifts was out of order. This caused chaos as there as six floors. On the plus side the restaurant and food, and staff were fine.
Really it's 4 1/2 stars. Only a few minor points. Torn chair in room, and window needed some attention. Long wait at times for staff, but very helpful when found. Nicely decorated restaurant and bar. Car park well situated, but limited spaces, easy pay system by main door. Well located for town, though a little far for cruise terminal if walking. Luckily I had a nice quiet room, not sure about others. Would recommend, but would like to be able to choose room.
The carpet never fitted the room you could see the gripper and it's staples.the room itself was in a mess the wardrobe a d dresser was both losing its stuck on fake wood.a freight train was going past all night long the noise was terrible.the lady on reception was polite enough but we payed for a good night's sleep not a smile when you walk in. The walkways and stairs are dirty this is the most dirty noisy disgusting overpriced budget hotel going avoid like the plague.it really is gritty I do not understand how the reviews on Google for this place are so high.it really doesn't deserve a rating or a 1
