Convenient location, clean rooms, and a good breakfast (particularly for a Premier Inn!). Stayed several nights in a family room and the staff were great, including offering luggage storage at this location. Specifically, Graham at the front desk was very helpful with advice and a chat.

One of the worst experiences we have ever had with Premier Inn. We are regular customers and usually choose this chain because we know exactly what to expect. Unfortunately, this specific hotel falls way below any acceptable standard. Here are the main issues we encountered:
Bad smell: The corridors smelled like a cheap pub – a mix of stale beer, old cigarettes, and dampness.
No fresh air: The windows do not open at all. As a result, the rooms feel incredibly humid and have a very unpleasant, stuffy odor.
Broken air conditioning: There is AC in the room, but it makes a loud, rattling noise. It was impossible to sleep properly.
Chaotic breakfast: We paid for breakfast every day, but it was a very bad. The food trays were constantly empty, and there was zero organization. You just stand there and wait for everything. There was only one chef cooking, and they clearly had no idea how to handle the rush.
We are incredibly disappointed because this does not reflect the standard Premier Inn usually provides. We definitely do not recommend this location.

TL;DR: Exactly what you want from a Premier Inn: comfortable rooms, friendly staff, a good location and excellent value. The on-site Thyme restaurant is perfectly fine for a family meal, even if the steak wasn’t anything special.
Who doesn’t love a Premier Inn? This one is no exception.
The rooms are comfortable, the price is good and the location works really well for Portsmouth city centre. Parking is just around the corner and takes only a couple of minutes to walk to. It’s a public city-centre car park, so expect the usual UK city-centre car park experience, but we had no issues with it.
Check-in was really easy using the self-service machines, and the staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful throughout.
We also ate at the Thyme restaurant in the hotel. The staff there were excellent — really relaxed, friendly and good with families.
The food itself was perfectly acceptable. My sirloin steak was a little under-seasoned and looked slightly pale, so I wouldn’t say it was a highlight, but it was fine. Our son loved his pasta, and the sticky toffee pudding with custard was exactly what I wanted it to be.
Ultimately, it’s a Premier Inn, and that’s part of the appeal. You know what you’re getting: a comfortable room, straightforward service and good value for money.
This one delivered exactly that.

The room and the whole hotel has seen better days, but the bed was comfortable and the breakfast plentiful.
Shout out to Sophie at reception who gave us (a bunch of guys on a stag renewal) a list of recommendations for places to go - she's amazing and made our stay even better.
