We stayed here for two nights while attending a wedding in Lewes. Unfortunately, it was an extremely hot weekend and, with no air conditioning in the hotel, we found the rooms unbearably warm. Being six months pregnant made the lack of air conditioning particularly difficult, and we had two very uncomfortable nights with very little sleep.
For what is ultimately quite a basic hotel, we felt the price was extremely high for what was offered. We paid over £600 for two rooms for two nights, which made the lack of air conditioning, breakfast and the overall standard of the hotel particularly disappointing.
We were also disappointed that breakfast wasn’t included in the rate. On the plus side, this encouraged us to head into Lewes for breakfast, where we found a lovely spot that was well worth the drive!
The cleanliness of the communal areas was also disappointing, particularly considering the price we paid.
Overall, we didn’t feel the stay offered good value for money and unfortunately wouldn’t recommend it, particularly during the warmer months or, as was the case for us, in the middle of yet another UK heatwave.

The room was well presented and clean. Perfectly suitable for the price. We were aware that the attached pub could only serve breakfast before we booked and to be honest if they can't manage lunch and dinner then I don't trust breakfast, so we didn't book it. No real issue with that, Sainsbury's has a cafe.
The public areas, corridors and stairs were not clean. Clearly they hadn't been vacuumed for some time, the stair carpet is falling apart and there are filthy track marks to the staff areas. Baskets of dirty linen and towels were left out all day on 2 very hot days. Located in a retail park, so not a great location but handy for snacks and cheap fuel. Well probably find somewhere else next time.
It's a good location for us when visiting Brighton as its quieter. Free parking which is a change for this area. Some bits of the hotel is tired, but it's a well used hotel so expected. The only downside is the Drove next door is a Brewers fayre, which have gone, so it's only open for breakfast..... Food in an evening is off site, but if you have done a long drive going out again is not appealing, so had a McDonald's which is fine, but not an evening meal.
The staff here are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble, there is plenty of water, the beds are comfortable and the fan in the room has been a godsend, so overall a great experience yet again

Room was absolutely baking hot and the fan supplied didn't work properly as it was caked up with dust which aggregated my dust mite allergy which the head office showed no compassion for.
I was also told the room was hot due to the weather and I should have checked the listing more thoroughly when I booked as the hotel does not have air conditioning.
How patronising!!
Food crumbs on bathroom floor on arrival and shower sealant mouldy.
1 person on reception when guests queuing out of the front door to check in and 2 receptionists when there is nobody about. Nobody on reception at all when you want to complain about something.
The good nights sleep guarantee is not fit for purpose as there are so many get out clauses and caveats in the terms so they never have to honour it.
Stay was on 30/05/26 and complaint was only 'resolved' today (29/07/26) after I sent several chasing emails which where ignored. We paid.over £235 for a one night stay including evening meals and breakfast and was offered £99 back even though the restaurant was on a limited menu due to staff shortages.
If you have to book pay by credit card and chargeback under section 75 of the consumer credit act if you get nowhere, which I suspect you won't if you do complain.
I think that Whitbread is saving every penny it can as it is in financial difficulties hence why they are closing all it's Beefeater restaurants -hence why so reluctant to refund.
We will use a different budget hotel chain in future as the customer service is appalling.

This was only a short one night stay ahead of a ferry crossing. Room/bathroom was absolutely fine, good sized and comfy bed. While the rooms don't have the aircon my room was not overly hot thanks to open window and a fan.
However, the highlight was a young lady Skyy, who was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Once she saw my amount of luggage she found me a room on the ground floor - much appreciated - thank you!
