I stayed at the Safron Walden Premier Inn over the second May Bank Holiday. The room itself was pleasant enough. However, the breakfast experience was awful. The cooked breakfast was cold despite it being replenished in front of us. We had to wait a long time for the cereals and pastries to be replenished, once they had been replenished,
We then had to wait a long time for any bowls to be provided. We had to ask for each of these things to be put out and whilst one gentleman was very helpful, the other was quite rude and dismissive. There was also no fruit available for the breakfast. The coffee was awful and tasted like milk rather than coffee. I asked for a discount but did not get one. They were short staffed, which is a management issue and as it was a busy bank holiday this should have been considered by them
My husband and I were impressed with two members of staff and feel they should be mentioned.
Laura and Lewis. Were professional and helpful. Thank you both.
The young manager was also very nice

Terrible view. Parking is available but there aren't many spaces and a truck was taking 5 spaces when we stayed. Everyone else were spilling out into the surrounding streets
Stay in a lot of premier inns but this is my favourite.
Hotel has just had a big refurb in the main building and extra rooms being built next to the main hotel.
Rooms are always spotless, comfortable and all the staff are really friendly and so helpful but Laura is amazing and nothing is too much trouble.
Keep up the great work and thank you.
As a premier inn business account member I thought I should note this. Sadly not the experience I was hoping for, after being greeted by an abrupt and rather obnoxious member of staff I got to my room where by room was pleasant very clean and modern. If only the greeting was the same. I booked a table to dine in the new restaraunt and that’s when it all went wrong. Sadly the kitchen staff must be so new, or inexperienced they can not cope with the amount of covers. That being said I counted and at any one point there would only be a max approx 20-25 covers so it’s not like it’s a big restaraunt. I ordered loaded nachos, they were dreadful, bland over cooked and burnt. For main steak which was ordered medium well and it came rare and was approx 35 - 40 minutes late. Unfortunately it’s the same scenario with most premier inn now a days all look but no actual substance. I feel for the staff as they are very attentive in the restaurant but if you haven’t got a decent cook then what’s the point … my advice the hotel is clean and modern but as for the new refurbished restaurant until this is run correctly then don’t bother. Go elsewhere where ! I saw multiple other tables rejecting there meals and ultimately it’s a shame as the aesthetic is so nice inside but so poorly managed … such a shame really 😔
