  It must be one of the oldest Prem Inns, it really needs a face lift. Breakfast wasn't brill, but it was edible. OK if desperate I suppose.

  Premier Inn Saffron Walden As usual the Premier team were great, the room very good and the excellent air conditioning made our heatwave affected trip as bearable as possible. The hotel was very busy on Friday night, we tried to get breakfast on Saturday morning, but the kitchen team were overwhelmed between 8:30 and 9:30 when we gave up waiting. Fundamentally I think the kitchen & restaurant are too small to cope with the hotel capacity. The team did their best with the resources they had, but they were struggling to cope and the issues meant they couldn't process a refund for the breakfast we didn't get before we had to leave, it wasn't a good experience. It then took a lengthy phone call with guest relations the next day to get the refund sorted, some issue with the system meant the agent has had to request the banking team to sort the refund, so we'll see if that happens without further calls being needed.

  The room is very clean & spacious with everything needed. Unfortunately the breakfast situation was chaos. Not enough staff, not a single Manager in sight. Long waits for cooked food despite being a buffet as only one chef. However, the staff on duty were amazing, kept professional with a smile & happily met any requests thrown at them. Its always the lowest paid staff that keep a company running!

  Room wasn't ready when we arrived . The curry i had for dinner was more like soup and the peas were devoid of any moisture. Not enough staff , one was doing the reception in between serving us so long waiting times. The chef was more interested in tuning the tv in to watch the world cup than cook. As for breakfast , that was dried out and disgusting. As for cleanliness of their cups , every cup i picked up at the coffee machine had ring stains around the top through lack of proper washing up. Will not be returning anytime soon .

  Mixed. Stayed for 2 separate nights - the first was a warm welcome, the second slightly uninterested. First room was quiet but second was on 1st floor near to lift so had noise. Beds were good as you would expect. 2nd bathroom was looking a little tired. Food was pretty good. We'd booked a 3rd night and were promised the same rate as the 2nd, then couldn't make it (and it was beyond the cutoff for cancelling) and were charged a much higher rate
