⭐ **Very disappointing experience at Premier Inn Tiverton**
Unfortunately, our recent stay at Premier Inn Tiverton was extremely disappointing. My mum's room had a strong smell of damp from the moment we arrived, and it never went away. We had to get up every morning to speak to staff and remind them about the problem, yet it was never properly resolved.
Towards the end of our stay, we were so fed up that we had to spray the room ourselves to try to make it bearable, and a dehumidifier was eventually put in the room. We have photographic evidence of this.
What made the experience even worse was that we were travelling down to see family, something we only manage to do once a year due to personal circumstances. We wanted to spend some quality time together, my mum, my siblings and my nan and had even planned to have a cake together. However, we were told rather rudely that we would have to eat in our rooms.
How were we supposed to enjoy ourselves and eat together in a room that absolutely stank of damp? It completely ruined what was supposed to be a special family occasion.
We were also told by the Tiverton staff that they would put notes on the system regarding the damp so that my mum could claim a refund. However, when she later contacted Premier Inn Customer Service, we were told that no notes had been put on the system by the Tiverton staff.
Even more concerning, when Customer Service contacted the Tiverton hotel to cross-reference what had happened, the Tiverton staff actually told Customer Service that the incident had never occurred.
This is incredibly frustrating and disappointing. We repeatedly reported the issue, staff were aware of it, and a dehumidifier was actually placed in the room, yet the hotel subsequently told Customer Service that none of this had happened. Thankfully, we had **photographic evidence** of the dehumidifier, otherwise it seems our complaint may simply have been dismissed.
My mum eventually received only a partial refund because she had photographic evidence as a goodwill gesture, but the amount refunded barely covered the cost of this awful experience.
We chose Premier Inn expecting a clean, comfortable room and decent customer service. Instead, we had a room that continuously smelled of damp, had to repeatedly report the same problem, were expected to deal with it ourselves, and then had to prove that the problem even existed.
The whole experience was extremely disappointing and, sadly, what should have been a rare and special family visit was overshadowed by this stay.
Premier Inn Tiverton really needs to address both the condition of its rooms and, perhaps more importantly, the way customer complaints are recorded and handled. Telling Customer Service that an incident never occurred when customers had repeatedly reported it and there was photographic evidence is simply not acceptable.
And please, don’t get me started on the parking situation.
