  Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the service I received at Premier Inn Chesterfield Town Centre, particularly from the young gentleman at reception who was assisting the young lady working in the bar/restaurant area. I ordered a meal and specifically asked for a receipt because I needed it to claim back my work expenses. I had already purchased my drink separately and paid in cash. I was then told that because I had paid cash, they were unable to reprint the receipt or access the till function to provide one. Because they could not provide me with the receipt I needed, they cancelled my food order. To make matters worse, other customers were left waiting while the staff tried to figure out how to process my refund through the till. The whole situation became unnecessarily complicated and uncomfortable. In the end, I had to order my dinner through Just Eat instead, despite staying at the hotel and originally wanting to eat and spend my money there. I have worked in hotels and customer service for over 20 years, so I understand EPOS/till systems and the importance of finding a solution for the customer. What disappointed me most was not simply the issue with the receipt, but the lack of knowledge and customer service in dealing with such a straightforward situation. I know the standards and training normally associated with Premier Inn, which is why this experience was particularly disappointing. The room was excellent and the location very convenient, but unfortunately the service did not meet the standard I expected. Premier Inn Chesterfield Town Centre didn't just lose a sale of over £22 that evening — they also lost a customer.

  The location is good, and this premier inn is cleaner than most others I've stayed in recently. Parking is £8.70 at Saltergate. The noise however is terrible. The first floor really is to be avoided with the exception of the higher numbered rooms 14x for example but even then if you're lumbered with elephants in the room above it's unlucky. Sadly this was the case for stay #1 which was 1 night. One week later, stay #2 was worse for 2 nights. This time facing outwards to town (music really is quite loud even through the extra glazing) and then adjacent to the lobby door on the first floor. Goodness me. Whilst it is possible to close the door manually with care, it isn't really realistic to expect people to close it in this way. That door is getting the full "auto lose" (slam) effect every couple of minutes for periods of the evening and night and from 5am every 5/10 minutes. Think of interruptive noise just at the point where you're going back to sleep and you can imagine. The lobby door needs the mechanism adjusting so it soft closes as is designed. Truly terrible. I routinely take noise cancelling headphones etc. to block most of this out but sadly the combination effect is to cause a lot of interruption going to/during sleep. If you get rear facing rooms on the second floor then you're probably ok. Avoid the lower numbered first floor rooms like the plague. I will not stay again. Shower pressure is good on the whole. Air conditioning seems to switch itself off at times throughout which defeats the purpose. Sidenote: Two stays in consecutive weeks with very different sized rooms and furniture seemed odd. In room chair very uncomfortable. Stay #1 was excellent for bed comfort, stay #2 was not. Breakfast is 'normal' and I don't really get the fuss with this here or at any Premier Inn. In room tea and coffee is 'normal' and very limited.

  Nous avons passé 2 nuits dans cet hôtel que nous avions choisi en raison de sa proximité avec la gare. Hôtel très calme. Si vous voyagez en train, l’hôtel n’est qu’à 10 minutes à pieds mais attention ça grimpe. Il y a aussi les arrêts de bus à 5/10 minutes à pieds. Pour les courses alimentaires il y a un tesco à 5 minutes et un grand M&S food à 10 minutes, et quelques pubs autour (si vous avez la chance qu’ils soient ouverts 😉) Cet hôtel fut notre point d’étape pour la visite de Chatsworth house. La chambre était assez spacieuse ainsi que la salle de bains, les 2 très propres. Problème au niveau de la douche : par moments la pression de l’eau baisse et elle devient brûlante. Les draps avaient une mauvaise odeur. La fenêtre de la chambre ne s’ouvre pas ce qui est très oppressant. Le check-in se fait sur une borne et je check out est réduit au minimum : Malheureusement aucune interaction avec le personnel ce qui rend le lieu froid et impersonnel. Odeurs de cuisine dans la chambre au moment des repas ce qui est très incommodant. Le ménage et le changement des serviettes sont réalisés sur demande uniquement. Chesterfield est une ville mignonne mais totalement morte. A partir de 16h tous les commerces sont fermés et les rues désertes.

  Pleasant hotel in centre of Chesterfield. No car parking connected to hotel. We parked in nearby Council car park costing £8+ per day.

  We had a wonderful stay; helpful and friendly staff (especially Matthew), clean rooms and tasty food.
