Very disappointing experience at Best Western Gregory Hotel. The room was dirty upon check-in, with stained bedding, hair, and poor water pressure. I reported the issues immediately and was told management would handle a refund after he’s back on a work trip. But after days of delay the hotel denied everything and claimed there was no record of my complaint. Extremely unprofessional handling of a serious cleanliness issue and serious lack of credibility and professionalism.

Checked in at 3pm, was told by the front staff that our room is not ready and will need another 20 min. So we stepped out to have dinner , and came back at 8pm, room still not ready. Asked the front staff, he had no answer why and left for about an hour and a half before returning with a room. Now inside the room, was an unfinished renovation project, the whole room smelled like paint and construction. The bathroom sink was leaking and the bathroom would now close shut due to the floor and door not being parallel.

This was an extremely stressful experience. After check-in, a female staff member wrote my room number in nearly illegible handwriting. The room turned out to be under construction, and a construction worker who came out from inside kindly guided me to the correct room. The Wi-Fi password was equally unreadable, causing repeated failed attempts. After a nap, I woke up to find my wallet missing. I reported it to the front desk and requested a security camera review. The first male staff member told me the cameras had already been checked and there was no issue — a lie, as it later turned out he did not even have the authority to view the footage. The next day, I asked the manager to check again. He reviewed the cameras on the spot but insisted there was no issue and that the hotel bore no responsibility. Shortly after, a different staff member came to my room and returned my wallet. The manager then showed me the footage, which clearly captured the moment my wallet fell from my bag — meaning he had also lied. Not a single apology was offered. I was lied to by two separate staff members. This felt like a coordinated cover-up. Without my persistent efforts, I would never have recovered my wallet. I acknowledge that dropping my wallet was my own mistake. However, the hotel's response was shockingly negligent, with zero information sharing among staff. I lost all trust in this hotel and did not request room cleaning once during my stay, photographing my room each time I went out as evidence. Finally, I am grateful to the staff member of Pakistani origin who acted on his own initiative to help me. Without him, this would never have been resolved.

This is a solid 2 or 3 star hotel. No frills. If you’re visiting Bay Ridge, it’s the only hotel in the area and it gets the job done as a place to sleep and safely store your luggage during the day. There was no AC in the entrance or breakfast area and the AC in the room never really cooled the room. It’s a non-smoking building, but the hallways constantly smelled smokey. There is also no potable water or coffee and tea in the lobby or available in the room. The breakfast was very disappointing. There was no fruit except for oranges the first day and the second day, there was no fruit at all. They have a weird yogurt machine that only has vanilla yogurt, which is gross. Who eats plain vanilla yogurt?? At least without granola or berries, which they did not have. My bf tried the eggs and bacon, which he said weren’t good either. We didn’t even eat at the breakfast at the hotel the second morning, since it was so bad. The room was noisy, with the sounds of the cars below. Also, the first night both me and my bf woke up to the sound of workers restocking the vending machine at 6 am. It was constant booming for about 5 minutes and at first I was scared that it was a drunkard trying to get into the room. The second night, someone had snuck a small yappy dog into the room next to us. The dog barked nonstop. The room supposedly had a queen sized bed, but it was much smaller than my queen bed at home. Large enough for two people with not much extra room to the side. It was very misleading. Due to its location and the lack of other hotels in the area, I would say go ahead and book here if you really want the convenience. But just know what you’re getting. A nicer place elsewhere would give you some better rest, a fuller belly in the morning, and just better tranquility.

This would be a zero star review if it was an option. Just an absolutely awful hotel experience. We have always felt we could expect a consistently good experience from a Best Western hotel, but this stay was abysmal. Upon check in, we were given a room that was occupied, and by a somewhat "concerning" individual, as he was quite annoyed and watched us return down the hall towards the hotel lobby. Our next room was in a wing under renovation which was extremely dirty, and construction materials stacked down the hallways. The second night we returned just after 10:00 pm, and experienced a party in the basement under our room, with music so loud our floor vibrated. After a trip to the front desk, we were told it was ending in 10 minutes, which actually ended about an hour later. Our third and thankfully final night, a Sunday night, our return was greeted with construction being done in the room next to ours, with a running tile saw and hammering at 7:00 pm. I spoke with the contractor, who honestly seemed surprised that someone was in the room next door, so he stopped using the tile saw after about 20 minutes, yet construction continued. After yet another trip to the front desk, the staff member (a really nice person, he was the only positive of the stay), he called someone, and the construction eventually ended just shy of 10:00 pm. Again, on a Sunday night, and we had an upcoming early morning flight. The hotel lobby was extremely dirty, the stay was the worst we ever experienced in any hotel, and the only positive was the front desk staff was very nice. Sadly, we will never return, which is extremely disappointing, as we now have family in Bay Ridge with no good second option geographically.
