They do not offer shuttle service and I wouldn’t have booked this hotel if they properly advertised not having a shuttle service.
Decent rate, decent check in. We had paid extra for a larger upgraded room and were given room 200. Upon entering the room, which was good sized, I immediately went to the AC unit to kick it up a bit. Unfortunately, I found ants crawling all over the AC unit. Of course I'm thinking, if they can't control ants, what else is lurking around? They didn't have any other upgraded rooms to put us in, which I was fine with, but couldn't refund the difference and wanted me to take it up in the morning with Todd. That wasn't an option since we were only staying one night and leaving early morning, I wasn't about to deal with that upon our departure. Funny, they couldn't refund the difference, but they could uncheck me in and insure that I wouldn't be charged for the non-refundable rate. We ended up staying at Marriott Fairfield in Grand Blanc for about 50 dollars more and well worth it for a clean room with no critters crawling around.
Unfortunately, this was one of the least hospitable hotel experiences we’ve had.
The two front desk employees working during our stay demonstrated very poor customer service. My 13-year-old daughter was repeatedly stopped and told she was not allowed to walk down the hallway without a parent, even when simply going to grab a snack or visit a teammate’s room. Throughout the weekend, it also seemed as though new printed rules were continually being posted and enforced as situations arose.
On Friday evening, several team parents gathered quietly in the lobby till 10:00 p.m. We were not loud or disruptive. By Saturday morning, a new sign had appeared stating that gatherings of more than 13 people were not permitted anywhere on the property. This was particularly frustrating considering our softball team had reserved rooms as a group, so the hotel was fully aware they would be hosting a team.
In an effort to comply with the new policies, we reserved a conference room for Saturday from 5:00-11:00 p.m. Due to game schedules, traffic delays caused by a widespread power outage in the area, and the hotel itself experiencing a power outage, we arrived around 7:00-7:30 p.m. to use the room. We were then informed that because we had not checked in by 7:00 p.m., the reservation had been canceled. The room was sitting empty and was not needed by any other guest, so it was disappointing that no effort was made to accommodate a large group of paying guests who had reserved the space until 11:00 p.m.
If hosting youth sports teams is an inconvenience, the hotel should reconsider offering group rates and booking codes for these types of events.
The rooms themselves were subpar, but the lack of hospitality and flexibility from the front desk staff was the true deal-breaker. We travel frequently for tournaments and will be taking our business elsewhere for future events.
The bathroom was a mess, the handle on the tub was about to fall off, as was the spout to the tub. The shower curtain was also about to fall down, only 1 screw barely holding it on at each end. The floor and grout was disgusting to say the least. Very dirty room
