This was a smooth and comfortable stay. The room was clean, quiet, and nicely arranged. The staff was welcoming and attentive whenever I needed assistance. The hotel felt safe and well-maintained. I would consider coming back again in the future.
Great customer service, very clean and aesthetically pleasing. Appreciate the price too, very fair. Thank you so much Best Western Monticello! 💙🧡

The room had a combination of live and dead bugs. Admittedly, at first, I could not tell the species of the dead bugs on the floor and the ones crawling on the ceiling were too far for me to tell. At first, I admit, I believe they were bedbugs, but it would not matter what type of bug I will not stay in a room with any bugs at all nor will I stay at a property that has bugs. When management responded denying a refund after I left after only three hours, they informed me that they were only “ladybugs. To be honest, I was not gonna spend time searching to find out what type of bugs they were why I was attempting to have a weekend away, so he may be correct, but I will not stay with bugs. If you’re OK with only ladybugs, this is your place to stay. Also, management does not want you to book through third-party sites, because he informed me that they cannot do anything for me when I booked through a third-party site and he recommends that book directly with the hotel in the future. Well, had I done that, I would be stuck with this brand. On the other hand, I can use my rewards to Expedia at any brand other than best western. Choose for yourself. The front desk staff were all very nice.
Very nice and clean hotel. The kids loved the HUGE swimming pool they all said was warm like bathwater. Beds were clean and comfortable. Will stay again. Away from all the traffic of Champaign but close enough to get there. Nice and quiet

I was in Monticello to get married, and stayed here. Booking our hotel block here (a mistake) was extremely difficult. We were told they were busy that week, creating a sense of urgency, but the manager would continually tell me on the phone they would block the book later and call me with details. They never called, and I had a very hard time reaching them when I called. Eventually, they did actually book the hotel block for me after I called, and at that time told me several rooms had already been given to a different block, and they could not give me the number of rooms originally promised.
I booked the jacuzzi suite 6+ months before my stay, but apparently that room had bed bugs and so my fiancé and I stayed in a super romantic double-queen. The manager said she would try to get us a better room, but we never heard from her again.
Our room's bathroom was dirty when we moved in, complete with the prior customer's body hair still in the shower. The toilet seat was broken and slid around. I fixed it after a few minutes of messing with it, but I guess the staff couldn't be bothered. Also, this sounds weird, poop sticks to the side of the bowl more than any other toilet I've used - especially above the water line.
Our shower's knob didn't have any discernible pattern, and took a few minutes of figuring out in order to take a room-temperature shower with adequate pressure. A friend in another room said his shower's knob just broke off, and he had to mess with wires in the wall to get water to come out.
The breakfast is disgusting. The fridge in the breakfast area felt tepid inside, so it's probably not even safe to eat. After eating here, my fiance threw up a few times.
The pool seems half-finished, reeks of bleach, and the supplied towels are usually all gone.
Speaking of towels, when our room was cleaned we didn't get any new ones.
I tried to use their laundry. Their dryer took 3 cycles to actually dry the clothes, which was super-fun because each cycle costs four quarters, and so you don't find out how much it costs and how long it will take until your clothes are already wet. Before my clothes were dry, I ran out of quarters - there's no change machine, and the front desk only had 8. So if you will need to wash something, plan accordingly.
The dryer is also extremely loud, and as the night wore on, I felt increasingly bad about trying to get my clothes dry since there are so many rooms near it.
I reached out to Best Western Corporate about this, and the only compensation they offered me was "thousands" of Best Western Reward points that ended up being worth $12.
