I was not expecting to see what I saw when I walked into the Idaho Falls family history center. I expected it to be a rather small area inside the church like what I am used to seeing. Well, I was wrong. This whole church building has been converted into a giant family search center. There were numerous cars out in the parking lot. I thought some Church event must have been happening inside but I was wrong, everybody in there was using the family history center. There are 15 giant church history centers in the LDS church and this is one of them. The center's capabilities include turning any medium into digital. 8 mm films, larger caliber films. 35 mm film, photographs, and printed material or handwritten material. They have a soundproof movie making Booth for recording audio history. Included with all of this is seven or eight fun games for youth that teach them how to do genealogy or work with the family search website. I neglected to count them, but they have something like 30 30 computers people can use to work with family search. Most of them are not in use so if you went, there would probably be one available for you. They also have genealogy classes. While I was there, a class was going on with perhaps 30 participants in a dedicated classroom. The class was also being broadcast on zoom. After I got done with my business, one of the 20 volunteers gave me a tour. This place is definitely worth a visit, if nothing else, just to see it. Workers are standing by, ready to help you.
