I arrived before the standard 3 PM check-in time, and I completely understand that early check-in may not be available. However, the way it was communicated was extremely rude and unprofessional. When I walked in, the woman at the front desk waved me off, walked toward the back, and said, “No early check-ins, okay bye.” There was no greeting, no effort to check whether a room might be ready, and no polite explanation of the policy. A simple, professional response such as, “I’m sorry, check-in begins at 3 PM, but you’re welcome to return then,” would have made a huge difference. Hospitality starts at the front desk. Even if the hotel cannot accommodate an early arrival, guests should still be treated with basic courtesy and respect. She ended up canceling my reservation when I showed up at 3 because I let her know I felt she was rude to me walked away and shut the door.

Update: there were no firefighters checking in while we were checking in. In fact there was no one checking in during the whole hour it took to get to our room. The front desk lady just kept leaving in the middle of check in, at one point I saw her at another customers room and they both pulled out their phones to look something up. Obviously if there were people ahead of us checking in I’d understand but this was ridiculous. Accountability is way better than making excuses. Check in took over an HOUR. And we were the only ones in there. We had a room, we didn’t have a room. Then it wasn’t clean. Finally got a room after an hour.

Worst experience with a hotel we have ever had. Not only was our reservation given away right infront of us but then it was lied about and we were put into a dirty room facing the parking lot instead of the one we paid for facing the ocean then we were argued with about the room actually being cleaned like we didn’t have eyeballs. Horribly unprofessional front desk staff and disgusting practices on this location. Wouldn’t even think of booking here again.

I had the single worse hotel experience of my life here. Really unnerving experience with the woman behind the front desk. I am going to write it all out - don't normally write reviews but feel it is important to warn. **Encourage you all to sort reviews by most recent - you will see my experience and perception of events is sadly not unique. ** My boyfriend and I arrived at 10 pm ish to check in to the room we booked days/weeks prior. We had filled out the pre-check in form, so assumed hotel staff was aware we were coming in later. Either way - reception is listed as being open much later than when we arrived. Upon entering, the woman with long white hair (whose name I am unsure of -- it may be Donna but it also may be Lori- got mixed messaging on this so I don't want to name with certainty), was inexpressively rude from the moment we walked in. When we greeted her with a hello and said we were checking in she unkindly told us she would not check us in -- that we had no reservation and that she had no vacant rooms. She repeatedly cut us off, and told us we had no place to stay. When we tried to show her our reservation, she literally shooed us away from her desk. Eventually, she found our reservation. No apologies, same rude tone, she asked for ID and credit card to complete check in. She complained that we had shown up too late and that was why our reservation had been "cancelled" (Unclear if at the time she actually had cancelled it...). She continued to be inexplicably mean - telling us to hurry up and impatiently tapping the desk. Hitting our breaking point, we asked if she could please speak to us more kindly, at which point things took an even wilder turn for the worse. Ultimately, she CANCELLED OUR RESERVATION AND KICKED US OUT - claiming we had threatened her because in a moment of true disbelief at how insane this situation was, and trying to reform a human connection, my partner had said "can you just look at us for a second?" Stranded late at night, we had help from the corporate service line. Our representative agreed the situation was egregious but had no other openings at nearby BWs. Our options became sleep in our car, spend a ton of money to book elsewhere, or, we were told that Donna/Lori would let us stay in our booked room if we wrote "an apology". We were stunned - all we had done was try to check into the room we reserved, and asked to be treated with a bare minimum amount of kindness, not even as customers but as people. Stuck between a rock and a hard place we wrote the letter - I wish in many ways we hadn't. It was demoralizing and if I was in a different financial era of my life I would have booked at a different hotel. She acted as if it was a contract, making us say we wouldn't write about the experience or post about it, and that we had bullied her. This was, to be abundantly clear, not an agreement. It felt like a hostage note written under duress. The moment we wrote what she demanded, she completely changed her entire demeanor - which was almost just as off-putting. She suddenly acknowledged she had seen our pre-booking form. She called us a nice couple. She gave us a room upgrade though I am not sure it was real, since originally she said "all rooms were booked". She continued to be kind for the rest of the stay as if nothing had happened. Time has passed and I am still in disbelief. Being coerced to write lies in order to sleep in a room we had booked and paid really felt insane. I also work in a customer facing job. I can acknowledge that working late nights, especially as a woman can be scary, but I cannot emphasize enough normally we walked in and how kindly we greeted her, only to immediately be treated like trash. I felt scared myself- it felt like she was living in a different reality. Given the other recent reviews there is clearly something happening here. We were told we could report this to another manager on the property but never saw anyone else at the desk besides her, so still trying to figure out how to properly report this experience.

Police Officer Statement attached! I recommend any one considering booking at this location to read the comments/reviews made about the management. I did not, and suffered the consequences. In brief: Manager Lori is an extremely unhinged individual, so much so that police officers were called and had to physically remove my ID from Lori against her will. My family was left stranded at 1am, I was accused of domestic abuse, and the motel never took accountability. I have video of the entire interaction I’m considering posting on social media. In detail: Upon booking we were asked of our ETA, we estimated after 11pm. Since staff leaves at 11pm they said we would get instructions via email on how to obtain keys from a lockbox. 10:30pm comes around and no email. I call to inquire about the email and Lori answers, asks what time I’ll be arriving, and I tell her we’re shooting for 11:30pm. She immediately sounds irritated and says “Wow, that’s the latest we can take you in” *hangs up. We’re super confused as to why she hung up so abruptly, so I call back. I say hey I just called and think we got disconnected. She responds “Hi yes I’ll see you at 11:30 bye” *hangs up. I can’t get a word in before Lori rudely hangs up. By the third phone call I was livid! So much so I cursed out loud (not at her) and demanded she stop hanging up on me. By the time we arrive we’re so upset that we are considering cancelling all together. My wife and son stay in the car while I go and see what’s this lady’s issue. I express my concerns with her professionalism, which goes disregarded. She asks for my ID which I give to her (biggest mistake!). After a little back and forth I decide we are not staying there. I ask for my ID back and she refuses to return it. Lori says she needs to speak with my wife because she’s the one on the reservation and I could potentially be domestically abusing her because it happens all the time at this motel. What?! What a crazy thing to say to someone! My wife comes in, Lori then tries to get my wife to sign some document before returning my ID. Lori is literally holding my ID hostage, tells us the stay is non refundable and my wife has to sign. I immediately get law enforcement involved. She even fought back at law enforcement, unbelievable! They asked if I wanted to press charges and that they would arrest her then and there. We didn’t take that route. Ultimately we were left stranded at 1am with a new born after a 6 hour drive, scrambling for last minute accommodation. I called their corporate office to raise the issue and they offered me points equivalent to $25 towards a future stay for the inconvenience. I declined.
