  The location is perfect if you are looking for a slower beach town, with shopping. From the hotel you can easily walk down to the beach, to get dinner or enjoy a drink. The rooms are older, but well maintained. The toilet/shower are in a room and across is the sink area. The hotel has a lot of stairs, and I witnessed several older people trip and nearly fall, so watch your step! There is an elevator to each floor, but there are still steps youll need to take. The outdoor seating areas are lovely! Nice, comfortable furniture, a fire pit and a great view. Bring a little lap blanket so you can be cozy in the evenings. The breakfast is standard, but in a lovely room. The staff were very kind! There isnt a parking lot, but you park on the first level of the hotel, under the rooms. The parking it tight, but doable! Overall it was a nice stay, with a great location!!

  Bisher nach einer Übernachtung alles gut. Frühstück reicht supi für den Start in den Tag. Zum Strand muss man über die Straße, mal sehen ob das ein "Hindernis" ist. Die Stadt bietet viele gute Möglichkeiten zur Bewirtung/guter Atmosphäre in der Nähe des Hotels für den Abend. ...und eine leckere Eisdiele, in der nicht nur das Eis ... - Mehr liess am ersten Abend noch nicht erkunden. Alles in allem bisher hier sehr lohnenswert.

  X New post ••• This hotel boasts one of the finest customer service experiences I've ever encountered. From the moment I stepped inside, the atmosphere was truly exceptional. The two ladies at the front desk, along with their supervisor, were extremely courteous and accommodating. Despite our scheduled 3 pm check-in, we arrived at 10 am and were graciously offered a tour by the supervisor, who also upgraded my room to one with pool access and suites at no additional charge. Upon inquiry, I discovered that the hotel is family-owned, which resonated with me as I work for a family-owned store and appreciate their dynamic and energy. The happiness of the employees was palpable, from the front desk staff to room service and the breakfast hostess. It's evident that they are treated well, with some staff members having over 15 years of service, and speaking fondly of the hotel's owner as a kind family figure. The hotel's location is ideal, situated directly in front of the pedestrian lane that leads to the beach, next to an excellent seafood restaurant, Harbor Fish, where I highly recommend trying the fish tacos MUST TRY THEIR FISH TACOS! It's also 5 min walk from the little Mom and Pop stores and restaurants. I've included some photos of their breakfast buffet, which, while not as extensive as some larger hotels like Hilton, was more than satisfactory given the exceptional customer service. Breakfast with a beach view!? Yes please!

  I understand this is a modest beachside property and that the location across from the beach in Carlsbad naturally comes with higher rates. I booked an “ocean view” room for over $400 expecting the view to justify the price, even if the hotel itself was more basic. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing in a few important ways. Upon check-in, I was informed that parking at the property was sold out and that I would need to find street parking. In such a congested beach area, this was extremely inconvenient and stressful, especially while dealing with an injured foot (walking boot) and carrying luggage. Street parking was very difficult to find, and I ended up having to walk quite a distance while also worrying about the safety of my rental car overnight. The biggest disappointment, however, was the “ocean view” room itself. The room had a window with shutters facing mostly palm trees, with virtually no visible view of the ocean or beach. I truly feel the room description was misleading and did not match what was advertised. The staff was polite, and I understand some things may be outside their control, but I do think the hotel should be more transparent about both parking limitations and what qualifies as an ocean view room. With clearer expectations, guests could make a more informed decision before booking.

  Found a cockroach in my room. The nicest thing I can say about this hotel is the location. Rooms are old and at least for me, it sucks to find a cockroach in your room at 10 pm. From another review, I see that cockroaches have been found here before and Best Western has gaslit that customer into thinking otherwise with their response. Well, here’s my review that another guest has seen a cockroach in your hotel with photo and video evidence. Adding onto my review to respond to Best Western’s reply: the photo and video are absolutely from this property. One of the photos even shows a Best Western-branded notepad in the room. Is there another Best Western Hotel with beach views in Carlsbad? I think not. I’m disappointed that instead of acknowledging the issue, the hotel chose to deny it entirely multiple times. I personally encountered cockroaches in the room during my stay, and the photo and video I posted were taken there. Future guests can decide for themselves whether they want to stay at a property that responds this way to customer concerns.
