This SIXT branch is by far the worst one I have ever been to, and generally gave me the worst possible treatment of all car rentals I have ever had. I can only recommend you avoid it, and in case you rent a car here, be aware of unexpected costs that may arise. Here’s what happened to us at our rental in August 2026:
First, the employees show no courtesy or politeness whatsoever. We had a problem at pickup: Trip.com, which we used for booking, didn’t transmit the cross-border policy we chose to SIXT, and therefore the car chosen by SIXT could not be used, since it was not allowed to cross the border yet. While this was not a direct mistake by SIXT (rather one by Trip.com), the employee constantly kept passive-aggressively pointing out that it was our mistake to choose to book with Trip.com in the first place and that we should have booked directly (come on, they are literally a certified partner!). Moreover, he explicitly refused to contact Trip.com’s support himself (“quote unquote, that’s not my job”), and gave us the ultimatum of either choosing the more expensive class or cancelling everything. The manager Aleksandar C., by the way, is even worse. He, unwilling to hear the full context, even more rudely tried to assure us it was our mistake for not choosing the policy and gave literally no useful insights (apart from explaining the situation incorrectly).
But this was only the beginning. We took the limited insurance, and while driving, “scratched” the car (barely visible in the light’s reflection, no metal visible) (Picture 1 for reference). At the return, this was added as a scratch, and the same manager, Aleksandar C., took out his “Damage Catalogue”. He opened a page with scratches for our car class, where multiple deep scratches were put for reference (Pic 2). This had little to do with the scratch depth in our case, but due to the way it is stated in the rental agreement we signed, we had to pay €220 per door. All communication with the manager had no result at all, and once again, he was very nonchalant and rude. We tried to tell him that fixing these “scratches” would cost a simple polish, some €50, to which he answered, “Maybe in your country.” Well, in our country (Germany), the cost is surely more than in Serbia, but still definitely less than the crazy €440 in total.
This was not a direct scam, but rather a bureaucratic manipulation, but still, the attitude of the employees and the company’s policy, as well as the overall customer support, deserves one star at most.
