  We arrived much earlier than our reservation time and asked whether we could change the reservation. We were told that the cars would be ready exactly one hour later, and our reservation was changed accordingly. However, when we returned an hour later, our cars had been given to someone else, and we ended up waiting for three hours instead of being able to go somewhere else. The most outrageous part is that we had specifically reserved two ID.7s because we needed the extra luggage space, and we mentioned it explicitly. We were told that one of the cars had been “upgraded” free of charge, but we were actually given a Volvo EX40, which is a lower-class vehicle and significantly smaller. There was no way five people with luggage could fit in it. An incredibly incompetent company.

  DO NOT RECOMMEND this company. They operate like scammers. I rented a car for my wife from 18.06.2026 to 23.06.2026. Before booking, I carefully read many of the negative Google reviews about SIXT. Most of them were from people who didn't realize they had to leave a security deposit or who failed to take photos and videos of the car before and after the rental. In our case, everything seemed to go perfectly. Just one day after returning the car, the security deposit was refunded. At that point, I was even planning to leave a positive review here and on Booking.com. But then, two days later, on 25.06.2026, SIXT charged $41.70 to my wife's credit card without any notification or explanation. Naturally, I wanted to know what this charge was for. My wife first contacted Booking.com support, but they had no information and advised us to contact SIXT directly. After one day, SIXT replied that the charge was for toll roads and an AutoPass administration fee. To put this into perspective, we have lived in Norway for almost three years**. The highest toll bill we have ever received for our own car - including ferry crossings - was around 320 NOK (about $32). The rental car was never taken on a ferry. It only used one toll road for a single round trip between Ølen and Bømlo. During all the other days, it was driven only between Ølen and Etne, where there are no toll roads. The funniest part is that the SkyttelPASS AS transponder attached to the windshield is not a paid subscription at all. You only pay a one-time purchase cost (around 200 NOK) if you buy your own device. After that, the device itself is free to use - you only pay the actual tolls and ferry charges. So in reality: We were charged an inflated amount for toll roads that we barely used. We were also charged an administration fee for a system that effectively provides a free transponder and simply processes toll payments. No matter how carefully you read the rental terms, be prepared for the fact that SIXT will still find a way to charge you extra. We were actually lucky - it was "only" $41.70. If my wife hadn't taken detailed photos and videos of the car before and after the rental, I honestly believe they could have tried to charge us even more for damage we never caused. Avoid this company if you don't want unexpected charges after your rental. 👎👎👎

  Denne avdelingen av Sixt fremstår som useriøs og kan ikke anbefales som leverandør av leiebil. Jeg bestilte leiebil i god tid hos Sixt på Haugesund lufthavn og forhåndsbetalte leien. Bestillingen ble bekreftet. Da turen nærmet seg, ble kredittkortet mitt sperret etter et svindelforsøk. Jeg hadde derfor ikke fysisk kredittkort tilgjengelig, men hadde opplysningene til det nye kortet som var underveis i posten. Jeg tok derfor kontakt med Sixt Haugesund for å høre om jeg kunne sjekke inn på forhånd og registrere de nye kredittkortopplysningene. Dette gikk fint. En stund senere ble jeg imidlertid oppringt av samme kundebehandler og fortalt at jeg ikke hadde bestått kredittsjekken. Utover dette fikk jeg ingen nærmere forklaring. Resultatet ble at jeg måtte avbestille leiebilen og bestille ny bil hos en konkurrent, Avis. Dette var uproblematisk og jeg fikk heldigvis bil på kort varsel og god behandling hos Avis. Min erfaring er derfor at dette var en lite tillitvekkende og lite kundevennlig håndtering. Jeg kommer ikke til å bruke Sixt Haugesund igjen.

  Update 8.6.26 Mastercard approved refunds for the original additional driver fee and the incorrect reversal. Anyone we dealt with at this company seemed to need more training on basic tasks and basic customer service. It seems the “accidental” charge instead of a reversal was done on purpose, as Sixt’s communications ceased after that, despite my follow up. Update 5.22.26 After contacting customer service, they agreed as a courtesy to refund the cost for ann additional driver. They then charged our card instead of crediting it and then went unresponsive. Still waiting and disputing through Mastercard. Incompetent and at this point irresponsible. 4.8.26 Hostile experience at Sixt Haugesund Airport. They advertise being open Sunday, but after booking, we were told the office was actually closed. They sent self-pickup instructions only in Norwegian, and when we moved our pickup to Monday to get in-person help, the supervisor, was incredibly rude. She mocked our inability to read the Norwegian link, telling us we "should know how to use Google translator." When I asked for a gesture of goodwill for the day we lost due to their closure, she slammed our driver’s licenses on the counter and told us she "was not going to quarrel." I was so exasperated that I said "Jesus" to myself, and she actually responded, "I don't think he is going to help you." The contract also listed the wrong vehicle. This was a shameful display of customer service that left us feeling unwelcome in Norway. Avoid this location.

  Ubemannet hent- og levering, med et nøkkelsystem som ikke gir noe mening. På samme tid betaler vi fortsatt samme priser som om det skulle vært et tradisjonelt bilutleieselskap. Dvs. at man møtes av et fjes som ekspiderer oss. Videre når vi ringer kundeservice er de irriterte på oss og frekke i kjeften. Til slutt (når de allerede er overpriset ift. konkurrenter), trekker de oss 1.000kr ekstra fordi det var litt smuss i bagasjerommet. Helt klart et selskap som ikke får til omstillingen til mer automatiserte prosedyrer. Terningkast 1 av 6. Søppel, prøv igjen!
