Went in for a hearing check got greeted immediately by Donna who then took me through for my appointment, Donna was friendly from start to finish and was very knowledgeable and explained everything clearly would highly recommend to anyone.

Until now, I have always had a good experience with the hearing care at Monks Cross York. However, I had to bring my hearing aids in for repair and they said it would take up to 10 days. It’s taken much longer than that - I’ve chased up twice and still no joy. Annoyingly they only have a central number so can’t actually speak to Monks Cross despite them having a reception desk there. Local contact number would be more than helpful and perhaps keeping the customer informed about why there is a delay would help towards customer service. At the moment I am not impressed!

1) took my 37 minutes to get through to make the appointment
2) When I arrived at the store there wasn't anyone there and no sign saying what I should do
3) After waiting until 10.15 (my appointment was for 10am) I was about to walk out when a lady from the pharmacy asked if she could help. She went and knocked on a door and the hearing department assistant said she was almost finished
4) When I finally got into the audiologist's room I politely suggested it might have been helpful if a sign had been left out in the waiting area to advise Customers there might be a delay
5) The audiologist's attitude was it wasn't her fault (I did make it clear I wasn't criticising her; just a helpful suggestion).
6) By now I was feeling very 'uncomfortable' with the atmosphere in the room.
7) And then it transpired that my appointment was to have my hearing aid serviced; when I made the appointment through Boot's call centre I said I was overdue an hearing test and having my (Boots) hearing aids recalibrated.
8) There was no point in staying as I clean my own hearing aids
9) the audiologist asked me if I wanted an appointment made for the hearing test.
10) Given the ladies' unfriendly attitude I said no thanks and left
11) I had made a 30 mile round trip into York, so not wanting to do that again, and tell me why Boots should have any more business from me?
12) I will make an appointment with an independent hearing specialist, even though I will have to pay £65 - at least they will value my custom.
13) Oh, and I have cancelled my eye test and new glasses from Boots
Boots used to be good; what has happened? If I ran my business like I was treated on Saturday I wouldn't have any / many Customers left. Sorry it's a long story.
