  Free, quick (15 min) hearing check carried out promptly and with a good explanation. Well worth getting done at my age, due to the link between untreated hearing loss and dementia. A lovely chap conducted my appointment, which was friendly and fun, with the results clearly explained in jargon-free language. Why wouldn't you go? I've done this twice before at Boots - no-one tried to sell you anything and you can keep track of how your hearing is doing every couple of years, so you can catch any issues before they become serious
