I rented a BMW A series from 9:30am to 9:30am but my flight arrived 1 hour early. So the front desk of Sixt told me that it is ok with me, they can give me an Audi instead of BMW at 9am so I agree. When i returned my car before 9:30am, I was told by the lady that everything is fine and I can go. But when I read the bill later, I noticed that they had charged me an extra day!
My advice to anyone after renting a car from SIXT is to cancel your credit card once you're back home and never deal with them again. I have recieved a speed ticket and it was detected from my card
-which is valid- but i was surprised by their email, they have shared the IBAN number of the violations entity and told me to transfer the ticket fee to them. I told them that the amount was already detected from my account, but they have replied to me that the detected amount was not for the violation, it was for (administrative fees)🤣🤣🤣!!!
They will find any reason to rob you, so, cancel your card and free your mind.
Update: they have charged me the administrative fees(again)!!! I cancelled my card and raise a fraud ticket to my bank.

Usually user of sixt, never had an issue until that moment.
Took a suv. The car broke down the last day of renting. This could have dramatic consequences. One of the front wheel literally fall down, while i stopped on a service area, with my 2 kids, wife, on the high way.
Called the assistance that took the car away, and sixt left me with my family during the night in the middle of the highway, near the italian border, because “their job is to take care of the car, not the people”.
After hours of phone call, they accepted “reimburse” the taxi that i had to take by myself to go back home. Costed me 800chf
4 months after, still didn’t get my money back.
And receiving time to time call from sixt asking me “where is the car?”
Great company, if you don’t have any issue.
But if anything happens, whatever insurance or coverage, or car you will take, they won’t care about you.
Platinum member, i decided to not use sixt anymore, until they come back to me (not to ask for the car back).

I had an extremely disappointing experience with SIXT during my 13 day Switzerland trip.
Before traveling, SIXT requested that I complete an online driver's licence verification, which I did successfully. I also carried my valid International Driving Permit. Since I live in Kuwait, I no longer have a physical driving licence because Kuwait has transitioned to issuing digital licences and on special request only they issued physical license.
Despite successfully completing their verification process, I was informed at the SIXT counter at Zurich Airport that they would not release the vehicle because I could not present a physical licence. What made the situation even more frustrating was that the staff told me they had encountered the same issue with customers from Kuwait before. If SIXT was already aware of this requirement and this recurring problem, why was I not informed before I left Kuwait or during the licence verification process?
As a result of this lack of communication, my entire 13 day itinerary was severely disrupted. I had booked a Mercedes GLE, and all my travel plans, hotel bookings, and sightseeing were planned around having that vehicle. Had I been informed in advance, I could have arranged an alternative or chosen another rental company.
The most concerning part is the imbalance in responsibility. If a customer fails to collect a reserved vehicle, SIXT charges the full booking amount. However, when SIXT is unable to provide the vehicle because of a known issue that was never communicated to the customer in advance, the customer is left to bear all the consequences.
My expectation was not special treatment. It was transparency. If a physical licence was an absolute requirement, this should have been clearly communicated before travel, especially after my documents were verified and particularly when SIXT already knew this issue affects customers from Kuwait.
I hope SIXT reviews its verification process and customer communication so that other travellers do not face the same situation. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend relying on this process if your trip depends on receiving the vehicle.
