  We chose the Matterhorn Focus Design Hotel for its great location and unique design (mix of alpine traditional structure with cyber punk). Staying here to celebrate our 10th anniversary was the perfect choice, and the hotel surprised us with some wonderful hospitality upon arrival. We were picked up by their private electric cart at the Zermatt train station and welcomed with a complimentary drink. Plus there was a,surprise in our room ❤️. The staff members were incredibly friendly and helped us with booking the cable cars and local restaurant recommendations. Breakfast was tasty with a vast choice of local cheeses. There is a snack area for the late afternoon snoopers as well. The spa and wellness area was excellent. Quick heads-up for future interational travelers: the sauna is a clothing-free zone, which is standard for European spa culture but good to know in advance! All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  My family and I are in Switzerland for a month this July-August ‘26 and the Focus was one of our stops. Though we have stayed at the Focus multiple times in the last 10 years, I believe we have made our last visit. Unfortunately, the hotel is tired and in need of refreshment/decluttering/decorative updates. Just as concerning is their decline in hospitality. The check in desk and lobby areas need intense decluttering as you enter into a cacophony of paper on bulletin boards, tv and computer screens, products for sale (with corny and low quality labeling), and unattractive feathers/dried flowers displayed in unnecessary places. There was nothing peaceful or welcoming about the reception area in appearance, but even worse was the unwelcoming and cold reception staff. We addressed this with the hotel, but I think potential guests should know that you may be greeted rudely or you might not be greeted at all. This made the walk to and from the elevator every day a dreaded experience. Passive aggressive labeling on anything that stands still feels like they expect you to rob them blind. The inexpensive reusable bag for pool towels has a disheveled tag saying if you want to take it home you can buy it. No one in their right mind would want to take these underwhelming bags home. Someone went wild with a label maker and labeled the products in the bathroom with “You can buy me”. While not egregious on their own, these details point to a general lack of elegance, hospitality or luxury. As for the pool, the decking and balconies are in need of attention. Everyone in our family got splinters in our feet at least once. This happened last summer as well so this is not a new problem. We had a nice suite for the majority of our stay, but due to the holiday weekend, we had to move to a smaller room. We knew this and expected the room to be much smaller than our previous suite. Size, however, was not its downfall. To say this room was depressing, gross and embarrassing would be an understatement. The pictures provided show uneven mattresses, head prints on the walls, torn window shades, beaten up walls and a light fixture straight out of an interrogation room. The “pull out sofa” was truly unbelievable. It consisted of the sofa cushions laid on the floor upside down with sheets on top. I share all of this information, not to be unkind, but to be honest about what needs to be improved for people who enjoy true luxury hotels to return. I hope that Michelin will take note and reevaluate their key rating as the Focus is, in its current state, not a 2-key hotel.

  We had a fantastic stay at the Matterhorn FOCUS Design Hotel. Communication beforehand was excellent — both the pre-arrival chat and the email correspondence were clear and correct. The shuttle was right on time, and despite our early check-in we were welcomed with a lovely welcome drink. Our room was superb: spacious and with a stunning view. The service throughout was great, and we appreciated that the hotel offered light meals — soup, paninis, and pizza — available to order. The wellness area was wonderfully relaxing too. What really stood out was the staff — genuinely friendly, and after a little while they already knew what you'd like to order. You never feel like just a number here. Breakfast was fresh and delicious, with fresh fruit and an extensive buffet that offered something new every day. The location is excellent as well, just a few metres from the cable cars — which, pleasantly, we never noticed any noise from during our stay. A top hotel, highly recommended!

  Dieses Hotel erhält von uns zunächst einen Sonderpreis für den außergewöhnlich herzlichen Empfang und auch die weitere Betreuung durch die netten Damen (und Herren) an der Rezeption! 🏅Immer gut gelaunt, zu einem Plausch bereit , Informationen und Tips parat, das hat uns sehr gut gefallen ❤️ Auch sonst war alles perfekt, der Shuttle-Service, das Frühstück und das Zimmer mit einer atemberaubenden Aussicht auf das Matterhorn. Einen klitzekleinen Abzug beim Zimmer für die Dusche in der Wanne und den Alles-unter-Wasser-Duschkopf, das ist aber rein unser persönliches Empfinden. Alles war sehr sauber und das ganze Haus ist außergewöhnlich geschmackvoll eingerichtet und dekoriert. Hat uns mega gefallen, wir kommen wieder❤️Vielen Dank für alles❤️

  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Schon bei der Ankunft haben wir uns willkommen gefühlt – die von Hand geschriebene Begrüssungskarte war eine unglaublich liebevolle Geste. 💌✨ Das gesamte Hotelpersonal ist aussergewöhnlich herzlich, aufmerksam und zuvorkommend. Man spürt vom ersten Moment an echte Gastfreundschaft. 💛👏 Ein absolutes Highlight ist der wunderschöne Innen- und Aussenpool, die nahtlos miteinander verbunden sind. 🏊‍♀️🌿 Selbst am Regentag war das Baden ein traumhaftes Erlebnis und unglaublich entspannend. ☔💦 Die gesamte Anlage strahlt Ruhe, Eleganz und Erholung aus – genau der perfekte Ort zum Abschalten. 🌿🧖‍♀️✨ Die Zimmer sind grosszügig, modern und stilvoll eingerichtet sowie mit den grossen Glasfronten einfach beeindruckend. 🛏️✨ Der Blick auf das Matterhorn war das i-Tüpfelchen unseres Aufenthalts – einfach atemberaubend! 🏔️😍 Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt von Anfang bis Ende in vollen Zügen genossen und würden jederzeit wiederkommen. Eine absolute Empfehlung! ❤️🙌
