L’Ospedale Regionale di Mendrisio, conosciuto come Ospedale Beata
Vergine, è un ospedale di prossimità, che ha origini storiche legate a un
importante lascito avvenuto nel XIX secolo, da parte del Conte Alfonso
Maria Turconi. Nel 1990 è stato inaugurato il blocco principale. Questo
edificio accoglie in prevalenza i reparti di degenza somatica acuta e la
piastra tecnica, mentre la quasi totalità dell’attività ambulatoriale è stata
trasferita nell’ampliamento realizzato nel 2022, denominato Ala Sud.
All’interno della nuova costruzione trova spazio anche il Reparto Acuto di
Minore Intensità (RAMI), che con i suoi 30 letti, garantisce l’erogazione di
cure sub acute.
