  Overall I would have given this hotel 5/5 except for a couple of minor short comings and one major one. The minor ones I could live with. As one of my party was disabled, I was surprised to see the lack of luggage carts at reception which made checking in awkward. Also the office chair was broken and was too low to work comfortably. The major issue was the broken window that I was not informed about (room 114, see attached picture). I should have been informed of this when the room was assigned to me on booking. It presented immediate safety and security concerns especially being on the ground floor to the back of the hotel, and when I told the front desk about it, it was basically shrugged off by saying a new pane of glass was on its way. Outside of that the room and bed were comfortable and quiet and the service over all was very good. EDIT: Why was my picture removed from this review?   We stayed one night at the Best Western in Smiths Falls, in room 212. Unfortunately, there were several issues that made our stay less comfortable than expected. The main problem was the bathroom toilet, which did not flush and evacuate properly. This should definitely be addressed by management. The bathroom is quite old and clearly in need of renovation. The Kleenex and toilet paper were also very thin and felt like low-quality products. The bed was much too soft for our liking and would benefit from an upgrade as well. Overall, the hotel needs some updating and attention to basic amenities. Considering the condition of the room and the issues we experienced, we found the price to be very expensive for what was offered. We hope management will take these comments seriously and make improvements for future guests. We paid $242.00

  The Manager here, Mr. Amit Patel, also gets 1 star. After bringing to his attention that there are metal bolts sticking out on the pool deck where pool hardware once was, he brushed it off and said it was compliant. There are literally metal bolts sticking out of the cement around the pool deck that people or worse kids could step on and puncture their foot or trip and fall. Please see attached pictures. I will be reporting Mr. Patel and the pool to Smiths Falls bylaw as protruding metal bolts on a pool deck where adults and kids alike, walk around, is not safety compliant. The hygiene of the pool was also 1 star. It was covered in filth, bugs, and a dirty used bandage. It was evident no one had cared for or cleaned it for days on end. See attached pictures. I personally cleaned the pool myself for 30-45 minutes while I was there as they had a tathered broken pool net. I had to perform maintenance labour at a hotel I was a guest at just to go for a somewhat clean swim. The geese poop infested Rideau Canal was cleaner than this hotel's pool. I will be reporting this pool and hotel to the board of health. You can tell pool maintenance, hygiene and guest satisfaction is Mr. Patel's last priority as when I brought these concerns to his attention he dismissed my concers, deflected any responsibility and offered me no compensation, no even an apology. The worst kind of hotel manager. I will never stay there again and I do not recommend anyone coming to Smiths Falls, stay here. I would recommend staying at any other establishment other than here.
