Large room and very clean. We received non activated room keys on day one and they had the worst continental breakfast I've ever had. The coffee was good however.

Our recent experience was highly unsatisfactory, warranting a significantly lower rating than a single star. The initial room provided was unacceptably unclean, featuring a sticky, wet substance on the floor adjacent to the bed, damp sheets, and visible stains on the chair. Following our complaint, we were relocated to a second room which, unfortunately, presented its own issues, including bloodstains in the shower and similar pervasive stains on the chairs. After a subsequent complaint, we were assigned a third room, a suite, where the bed sheets were finally dry. However, this room also exhibited concerning cleanliness issues, specifically what appeared to be dried nasal mucus on the walls and the recurring stains on the wheeled chair. Given the repeated unsatisfactory conditions across three different accommodations, we ultimately decided to remain in the third room, despite its imperfections, and endeavored to overlook the issues. We were able to secure a direct refund from the hotel, as our booking through Expedia did not facilitate a refund from the platform itself, even in light of this exceptionally poor experience.
Very disappointing experience with GLō Best Western Kanata Ottawa West during a recent youth soccer tournament stay. Due to an unexpected tournament schedule change, several families needed to reduce their stay from two nights to one. The hotel was contacted a few days in advance, both by families and the coordinating travel agency, yet the property still chose to charge families a $100 penalty per room despite the very limited impact to the overall group reservation.
We understand hotels have cancellation policies in place, and most families would have understood a reasonable or nominal adjustment fee. However, under the circumstances, charging $100 per room despite advance notice and little overall impact to the booking felt excessive and unnecessarily rigid.
What was most frustrating was the complete lack of flexibility, understanding, or customer service shown toward families travelling for youth sports, where schedule changes are common and often outside anyone’s control. Multiple families attempted to reach the hotel manager, Salima, but were told by staff that she was unavailable due to being on a conference call for over three hours. She also did not return our calls. We have participated in many tournaments and have seen other hotels accommodate similar schedule changes without issue, recognizing that these situations are simply part of tournament travel. In this case, rather than working toward a reasonable solution or goodwill adjustment, concerns were dismissed and the charges upheld. Our travel agency even commented that this was the first time they had encountered this level of inflexibility, noting that most hotels they work with are generally far more understanding with tournament-related schedule changes.
Customer service and goodwill go a long way, especially with tournament families who travel to the Ottawa area frequently throughout the year. We already have several upcoming tournaments scheduled in this area for the summer, and unfortunately this is not a hotel I would recommend to our travel agency, other families, or tournament organizers moving forward.
Reading other reviews afterward, it was disappointing to see similar comments from guests describing a lack of empathy and an apparent focus on maximizing charges rather than customer experience. It was also concerning to see the hotel respond to negative reviews by stating they had no record of certain guests’ stays, even when the reviews included photos clearly taken at the property. This came across as avoiding accountability rather than making a genuine effort to address concerns constructively.
For a hotel that benefits from hosting large tournament groups, this approach felt extremely short-sighted and customer unfriendly. Unfortunately, this experience left a very negative impression, and many families in our group will not stay at this hotel again.

This location is a lower cost compared to other Hotels. Maybe because it is new. The room was larger then other places we have stayed at. But more attention to cleaning the inside of the windows should be improved on. The bright sun shows all the streaks.
Also more attention in the dining room for breakfast would help. Very cold eggs should never happen. I don't think the warming equipment was working properly when we were there.
In the room they had 2 new tv's. This was nice and does always happen.
, but they had 1000 channels with only a handful of them working. There must be away to only list the channels that works.
For our short time there and based on the cost this place was okay.

Salima went above and beyond, quickly helping me secure the correct booking (April 30th-May 1st) and arranging for the refund on the original, mistakenly booked dates.
