My wife surprised me with a night away at one of the fantasy rooms for Mother’s Day. The room was great and the breakfast the next morning was great, including the gentleman that was there to help with the buffet breakfast. Unfortunately the gentleman checking us in and the gentleman checking us out were very rude. I have never seen treatment like this. Not only was it embarrassing for my wife but you guys should be embarrassed that your front desk workers are talking to customers this way.
For Jason to state that “ I don’t have a receipt because they pay us less than you pay for your room” is mind blowing to me. We were nothing but nice and listened to anything they had to say.
I am disappointed as this was my first experience at this location and aside from the room, the service was awful.

I planned a surprise overnight getaway for my wife and I last min and wanted to treat her for mother’s day. When we checked in the gentleman working that night was short with us but maybe just tired, and explained that we needed a credit card for incidentals in the room, which I had no problem paying a deposit for. They did not accept my debit/credit card, and I do not have a credit card, so was only left with cash to leave. I was willing to leave more cash then was needed but he scoffed and said he would get me change. He explained in detail, why he could just turn us away because of this and we would be left with no refund for the room because of this. He ended up taking a cash deposit but overly explained why normally I would be turned away. I was understanding and listened to his script as it was late and I was surprising my wife who had no idea what we were doing that night.
I had booked us a fantasy room, which is not cheap and the room did not disappoint. The room was clean and beds were comfortable. We had a relaxing jacuzzi tub and had a great breakfast the next morning.
When checking out the next morning on Mothersday, James at the front desk greeted us as I told him we were checking out. He looked at his computer and instantly got short with us.
He walked to the back and grabbed our cash deposit, came out from the back and declared with the cash in his hand that “I’m going to have some one check the room because we don’t do THIS!”(holding the cash in his hand above his head)
I stated that I understand and that we were overly explained that to by the man the night before.
After someone checked the room, he counted back the deposit to me and gave me a receipt for the deposit. He then stated “I don’t have a receipt because Expedia pays us less than you do for the room!”
I couldnt believe the way that he spoke to my wife and I after spending the night as the hotels front desk liaison . I was embarrassed and overwhelmed at this treatment. He made us feel like we were less than and like our business was a inconvenience
I work hard to provide for my family and in this economy every penny matters. I spent my hard earned cash to be able to treat my wife to a night away before our first Mother's day being that it been a tough year for both of us and we deserved to do something nice for ourselves. I instead was made to feel like I inconvenienced them with my service and looked down upon because I don’t have a credit card.
It’s not ok to treat people this way and James should be ashamed of this behaviour

Surprising!
We were redirected here when the Holiday Inn we'd originally intended to stay at was full. Driving up at night, the hotel facade gives Hollywood cowboy movie set, and the room was slightly dated BUT:
1. The welcome was lovely
2. The gentleman at the reception desk juggled things so my 85 year old mother could have a ground floor room and avoid stairs (no elevators)
3. The (kitchy) bar was open and served great food, delivered by wonderful staff - people at the bar were engaged in friendly chat and my picky mother was delighted with her meal
4. The room had a fireplace - ok, electric, but still fun
5. The shower was adapted so that an elderly person didnt have to climb into a tub
6. The mattresses were great
7. The hotel was quiet
Sure, it's quirky, but if you have a sense of fun and are looking for a good overall experience, it's a great option
