We had a very unfortunate situation here on the night of June 30th, 2026 where the first room we were given had a fresh bloodstain inside the sheets at the foot of the bed and the second bed in our first room had what looked like bedbug eggs (small, yellow oval things stuck to the sheets).
Unfortunately this Best Western hotel was almost fully booked and only one other room was available. This second room (with 1 queen bed) was not fully clean either and had at least 15 black dog hairs on the sheets at the head of the bed and under the pillows. I didn't even pull back the sheets to see if the rest of the bed was clean. My husband has a dog allergy and when he got close to see all the dog hairs, his eyes started itching a lot.
3 beds in 2 rooms had dirty sheets. Totally gross with the potential bedbugs and fresh bloodstain. Not happy about dog hairs either. I am not someone who readily complains but this was unsuitable and not clean. Housekeeping needs to ensure sheets are washed and clean before making beds... I do wonder if the sheets were even changed?? Super disappointing as the Best Western chain is somewhere we usually enjoy and rely on for cleanliness.
Customer service from Selena (or was it Serena?) was wonderful and she worked hard to make things better for us and finding us another room, but that room also wasn't clean, and she was only able to refund our room. I felt bad bringing up the issues and it was after midnight after an 8 hour drive, but we truly could not risk possible bedbugs or dog hairs all around the head of the bed with a dog allergy.
Clean sheets is not a big ask from a highly-rated hotel for $270 a night (with tax). Luckily we found a room at a top-rated motel in town that was clean and more affordable in price too!
What a shame to hear about how much this hotel has changed for the worse. The rooms were nice when I was last here a couple years ago, but after hearing about the things they’ve started cheaping out on, like the breakfast, I think I’ll have to stay elsewhere during my upcoming visit to Jasper. I understand a change in management comes with some setbacks, but pulling stunts like that is just really low.

Jaime checked us in with professionalism and courtesy. He was also very considerate to let us watch the World Cup in the lobby even the bar was closed. Made our stay more memorable! Many thanks!

Stayed at Best Western Plus Valemount Inn & Suites with my dog Alfie on my way back to Vancouver, and overall it was a very good experience for a road trip stop.
The hotel feels newer compared to many other options in the area, which made the stay much more comfortable. The staff were very friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our visit. One of the best parts was the walking trail behind the hotel. Alfie absolutely enjoyed the walks there, and it was a great way to relax after a long day of driving.
Breakfast was also surprisingly good, especially considering the very reasonable cost. It was nice to have a proper breakfast before continuing the road trip.
The only downside for EV travellers is the charging situation at the hotel. There is only a Level 1 charger, which is unfortunately not very practical for electric vehicles on long road trips. Charging at around 1 kW per hour only adds a very small amount of range, so even after many hours overnight, you gain very limited distance.
For EV road trippers like me, the more realistic option was driving about 5 minutes to the BC Hydro fast charging station, waiting there to charge, and then returning to the hotel afterward.
Other than that, it was a comfortable and enjoyable stay, especially for travellers with dogs.
