UPDATE in response to the owner’s reply:
I was not contacted through “multiple emails” before posting my review. Communication only occurred after my review was submitted.
Renovations were not communicated during booking or check-in, so assuming I was “positive” aware of them during my stay is inaccurate.
The correction about breakfast wording is unnecessary and does not address the concerns raised.
The main issue remains the $12 charge for a lightly stained facecloth, which still feels excessive for what appeared to be normal use and was not clearly communicated at the time of stay. Furthermore the “evidential” photos sent were not consistent.
Overall, I am disappointed with how the situation has been handled. A more constructive, less defensive approach to customer feedback would go a long way in addressing concerns and improving guest experience.
I stand by my original review regarding the overall experience. But this takes the cake and 2 stars is too generous for this experience. If I could give 0 I would.
Very disappointed with my experience at Best Western. I was charged for “damages” over what appeared to be normal use of a face cloth, which I find completely unreasonable. I contacted customer service regarding the charge and refund and still have not received a proper response or resolution. The charge was $12 dollars for a crusty cloth. Photo of their considered “damages” are attached. Best Western Plus charging $12 dollars to every customer that uses a face cloth what a scam.
The overall stay was also very uncomfortable. The pillow cases had plastic coverings underneath that made them noisy and unpleasant to sleep on, the rooms were very dated and in need of updating, and the heating system was extremely loud, constantly kicking in and out throughout the night and making it difficult to sleep.
It’s frustrating to be treated this way as a paying customer. Normal wear should not result in unexpected charges, especially without fair communication or customer service follow-up. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not stay here again. I will be generous and give 2 stars only because the continental breakfast had good variety.

The check in service was easy enough. The issues started when I got into my room. I booked a king room, the bed was small. For reference, I’m just over 5 feet. I could lay across the bed and have my head touch one end and my feet dangled over the other. When I called the front desk, they told me it was a king size and wouldn’t move me. There is mould growing on the caulking in the bathroom, there are pee stains on the mattress, and what looks to be blood on the side as well. There were also marks on the wall in the bathroom that look liked blood.
The location is great, lots of amenities around it, and Royal pizza in the parking lot was good.
They are doing renovations so hopefully it gets better, but as of today I would not stay there again.

We had a good experience with our hockey team at this hotel until after we left when, without any notification from the hotel, a charge was added to our credit card. Upon contacting the hotel, we were informed that an elevator had been damaged by a child or children that they believed were hockey players.
There were three teams in the hotel from different parts of the province, however there appears to have been no effort to identify the culprits. The bill was simply split between all three teams.
The manager, Peter Smith, claims to have video evidence of the incident, however he refuses to share the evidence. He also informed us that this was a good lesson for all of the players and parents.
There has been an appalling lack of professionalism, honesty, and transparency in how this situation has been handled. Management should be embarrassed by their actions.
Clean rooms and friendly staff (especially the 2 ladies catering breakfast in the morning). Lots of great food options nearby. 10/10 would stay again.
Oh, and the TV's allow you to use Netflix, Youtube, etc. Nice change from the basic cable you find at most other *even* big brand hotels!

Terrible service, do not stay here. There are many better options nearby. The hotel was under construction and the elevator stopped working with a member of our team in it. Rather than apologizing for the inconvenience they blamed the kids on our team for the failure of their elevator and arbitrarily applied a charge to members of all teams staying here citing repair costs.
They treated guests like an inconvenince and staff up to the manager were rude and unpleasant.
