Booked over phone with a credit card. They shouldn't charge til checkout. I called over 24 hours in advance saying I was canceling the reservation. Lady on phone said it was canceled then proceeded to charge my card anyway. I disputed charge with my credit card company. Very shady!

My friends and I are on a road trip, this was the closest hotel with over a 4 star rating to Point Pleasant so we were going to stay here and drive over. We got in, checked in, walked under the giant rust and water damage spot in the lobby ceiling and went up to our room. Our room had about 20 live ladybugs, a stink bug, and about 50 dead ones. I went to the lobby, the lady said that it happens all the time, they just crawl in through the AC. Im thinking, that's weird, but whatever. She comes up and vacuums all the live bugs up and asks if we see anymore, so I point out the 50 dead ones crunching everyone she steps. She gets those too and leaves. Then we turn the ac on. In my mind im thinking if the fans running maybe I dont wake up to a face full of bugs in the night. Well, its a 100% smoke free facility and someone clearly had been smoking before us and they had a deodorizer in the ac. No big, im sure either happens alot, but its giving us a headache so I go down to talk to the desk clerk again. She informs me no one smokes in those rooms, we'll, somebody obviously did, the smoke smell doesnt just appear. At this point im done, ask for a refund, she gets her manager and the manager tried to offer me a new room, but im done and get a refund. My wife and I get our things out of our room, head to the car as we are looking for somewhere else to stay, and say goodbye to the man staying at the hotel with a hoodie pocket full of beer cans drinking in the parking lot. Our friends go to check out and the manager that night starts telling them "good luck finding better, every hotel in this town but us has the ladybugs and bedbugs too. You'll probably have to sleep in your car if you dont like it here. Yeah sure, a cars better than here, trust me.
Sorry if you had to read this whole thing, but it should be known. I've stayed at quite a few holiday inn express locations over the years for work and travel, and this goes leaps and bounds beyond being the worst one I've ever seen. Their corporate needs to do a surprise visit here and see if this is how they want their company represented.

My whole crew was in town and this was the dirtiest Holiday Inn, we have ever stayed in. No one at the desk on arrival or departure. A bell. The stairs were disgusting. The front doors broke. The side door wouldn’t let us in. 2 of our 5 rooms had mold in bathrooms. We asked to speak to a manager and was told she was out of town. Never received a call back, so we won’t return.
