- RMRich McGerveyApr 28, 20261.0We've stayed here before, spend many nights in hotels, and have never met a staff as incompetent and rude as this one. Breakfast attendant was absent for 20 minutes, sitting in a back room in the dark on her phone, trying to end breakfast early. There was NO management on duty, so they summoned housekeeping, and things went downhill from there. Apparently they don't care if their guests can have breakfast if they were busy and staff is tired. Housekeeping out front of the hotel next to the overflowing trash cans smoking cigarettes. We were verbally and physically harassed by staff for asking for the breakfast we paid for. They're full of excuses that cancel each other out. Housekeeping supplies and vacuum cleaners were left in hallways i the way ALL night. There are seedy people in the parking lots (but we felt safer with them than the staff.) I've stayed in this hotel for many, many years and even recommended it. Never again. There are FAR better options all over Charleston and downtown. Avoid the HI-E Civic Center. It's a shell of what it used to be.

We were staying at the Charleston WV location and found the bathroom disgusting. See pics. Very disappointed and hope things are isolated to this location . I will say the young man at the counter when we checked in was wonderful. There were also someone’s pants in the closet…. Clearly that room had not been cleaned.
