  We stayed for 3 days seeing family due to a funeral. The palace was clean and neat. Breakfast was good with many options.

  This room was furnished like, what I assume a Swedish prison cell to be. Hard concrete looking floors, except the square of dirty carpet under the bed. The sofa was so dirty and stained we chose not to sit there, more about this later. This stay was one plight after another. Walking into our "suite", we heard the annoying sound of a battery in need of changing on the smoke alarm...upside there was a smoke alarm installed. The front desk attendant needed to call to find the battery stash, apparently it's some sort of national secret. Battery was changed, so I decided to turn down the bed. Doing so revealed yellow stains on the bottom fitted sheet. Back to the front desk to get new sheets and someone to change them. I also decided to get a sheet to cover the stains and general dirt on the sofa incase we chose to SIT DOWN. The very nice young lady at the desk was very apologetic, repeatedly. She told me she was the only one on duty and she would change the bed. WE together changed the stained sheets, an I happily taught her how to change a duvet cover. HOLIDAY INN PEOPLE .. ALL EMPLOYEES SHOULD BE SHOWN HOW TO CHANGE BEDDING. The toilet is exactly 14 inches off the floor, (COME ON!!!), the shower stall is dirty and needs a scrubbing inside and out, non-slip shower floor stickers are cracked and sharp. The toilet paper hardware snapped off the wall with one pull of paper. This entire room is weird. You could park a car in the sink area of the bathroom however there is no bench, chair, counter or anything to put belongings in. Closet was in the bathroom, the fridge was balancing on 3 casters with the microwave teetering on top with no counter space near it. ALL this and the room was surprisingly quiet...we slept, until. Until the person up above turned on the water. The pipe started banging and clanking like Jacob Marley's ghost. Having hard uncarpted floors also announced every clomping step that person made. That was it. We were up and out of there. The front desk girl the night we checked in offered us 10,000 Holiday Inn points and a free snack from the snack shelf. I have no clue what 10,000 points will do me when I'd rather sleep under my car than sleep here again...as for the snack, I looked on the back....expired November 2025. CRIPES!!!!! svensk prioncell
