Bed Bugs & VERY Poor Management Response
My husband, our 2-year-old daughter, and I stayed here for a wedding from 9/19–9/21. My sister and her boyfriend stayed in the room across the hall. I’m sharing our direct experience so others can make an informed decision.
The first night was uneventful, though our room had a strange smell and didn’t feel very clean. We stayed because of the wedding.
The night after we checked out, I found multiple bites all over my daughter’s back. They became swollen and painful enough that she needed steroids. Around the same time, my sister—who was still in her room—found a live bug. She physically brought it to the front desk, and staff saw it and acknowledged it was a bug. I later noticed I also had several bites on my chest.
We immediately began trying to reach the manager, Sanjay. For weeks, neither my sister nor I could get a call back. Staff repeatedly told us he was out of town. I finally reached him well over two weeks later.
When we finally spoke, I felt he was dismissive and unprofessional, even when discussing our toddler’s medical treatment. He refused a full refund—in fact, we never received any refund at all—despite the situation and the expenses we paid afterward (medical, hot-drying/ruining clothes, and hiring a detection dog to check our home and car). He also asked for my daughter’s medical records, which I was not comfortable providing due to privacy.
My husband later called, and that conversation also became extremely defensive. The manager claimed the bug my sister brought to the front desk was “a wood chip,” even though she had watched it moving and the staff had already seen it and agreed with it being a bed bug. He repeatedly referred to my husband as “your lawyer husband,” which came across as rude and unprofessional.
I was also told that the health department had been contacted. When I called them myself, I was told they were not and haven’t been notified at that time (this was nearly a MONTH later). They eventually checked only the rooms we stayed in—and that was about a month after our stay. When I spoke to Tammy the employee at the desk 3 days later, they had no record of any issue and the room was still open… which is highly concerning.
At that point, we refused further direct communication with the manager and worked only through corporate. Even corporate staff expressed they were surprised that a refund hadn’t been offered. Instead, we were eventually told we were placed on a “do not stay” list. Honestly, that’s fine—after this experience, I would never return.
This situation cost our family close to $1,000, not including the stress and worry over our toddler’s reaction to the bites. And we never received any refund of any kind.
I waited to write this until I had cooled down so I could be clear and factual. I can only speak to our firsthand experience, but based on that experience, I personally would not stay here again and strongly encourage others to use caution.
I see another recent review also stated bed bugs were found (and that was not from my sister or her boyfriend), so we are not the only ones experiencing this. Please use caution when staying.

I had a great stay at this motel. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my visit. Check-in was easy, parking was convenient, and the location was perfect for what I needed. Overall, it was a smooth and pleasant experience — definitely worth the stay
BED BUG ALERT - stayed here with my family, found a bed bug on our bed. Confirmed this with staff. I highly recommend NOT staying here!!!
Update after response from owner - I stayed here with my girlfriend, BP, on 9/19-9/22. I also had to wake up at midnight to rid our stuff of bugs. I walked to the front desk with my girlfriend, and the bed bug, and communicated the situation with Raja, who confirmed it was a bed bug. I was a guest at the hotel, and am entitled to write my own review of my personal experience that I had here. Many of my belongings were ruined from having to dry at such high heat to kill bugs. Again, I highly recommend you do NOT stay here!
BED BUG ALERT: l stay a night around two weeks ago . for make a job and l found 2 bed bugs.
BED BUG ALERT: My family stayed here 9/19-9/22. We left the hotel for several hours on 9/21. When we returned, housekeeping had made our beds with new linens - per the front desk. Hours later, I was woken up to a bed bug crawling on my pillow. We immediately got up, at midnight, brought the live bed bug to the desk. Raja, the front desk employee, confirmed that it was a bed bug. We weren't able to leave, so he relocated us a different room, that he claimed he would "personally inspect" to ensure there would be no issues. Upon arriving to this new, "inspected" room, we immediately noticed an open, half full beer can. The quality assurance of this place is CLEARLY lacking. Raja took down my contact information to forward to the owner, and stated I would be contacted the next day.
The next day, after receiving no communication, I called the hotel. I was notified that the owner, Sanjay, was out of the country for another week. Why did they tell us we would be contacted the next day? Another question that has yet to be answered from this place. Also, the desk had no idea of any bed bug incident, and took down my information, again. They also stated that the room with the live bed bug was not closed off at all to future customers.
I waited until Sanjay was back, still no contact. I did not receive ANY communication until 17 days after we found the bug.....17 days, after multiple phone calls to them, giving them my information at least 5 times - after they admitted that nobody had my information at all!
When the owner contacted me, he was extremely unprofessional and condescending. He claimed that his hotel does not have any bugs, even though I brought it to them alive. He refused a refund of our full stay. He claimed that there was no reason for a refund, because the staff relocated our room. He told a family member that we could've brought the bug in, or that it could be a woodchip. To add to this, we had to heat all of our belongings in the industrial dryers to kill any eggs or bugs that were hiding in our clothes from the room. This led to multiple shoes being ruined, bags, clothes that were melted and shrunk - all at 2 in the morning. Exactly how we wanted to spend our vacation! Sanjay had nothing to say about the beer can in the room or our belongings that were ruined, not a huge surprise!
We contacted the local health department on 10/9, who claimed that Sanjay nor Best Western had reached out to them regarding any bed bug inspections. They had not reported the incident at all. We reported this, and they went to do an inspection on 10/10 - strictly due to US making the phone call. They would not have been there at all if we wouldn't have reached out. The department stated that bed bugs are hard to find unless the place is completely infested, and because it was so long ago (almost 3 weeks at this point), they weren't likely to find anything. Had this been reported to the health department in a timely matter, which I would think would fall on the hotel owner, not the guest, maybe it would've been caught. No bed bugs were found after the health inspection, so again, Sanjay played the game "my hotel doesn't have bugs". He continues to fail to understand that just because bugs were not found THREE WEEKS later, doesn't mean there weren't bugs when we stayed there - bugs that the front desk confirmed. I never made any claims of an infestation, I simply stated that there was a bug in our room. He refuses to believe this, even though it was confirmed by staff.
I've attached images of the bug and beer can with date, time, and location stamps. I beg you not to stay at this hotel. Save your time, money, belongings, and sanity. Dealing with this place was absolutely ridiculous and Sanjay was the most stubborn, unprofessional "owner" of any business I've had the "pleasure" of dealing with. Our stay here cost us well over $1,000 - between the hotel itself and all of our belongings that were ruined, and after 5 weeks - he refunded me $100. I would rather sleep on the curb in a parking lot than ever step foot in this place ever again.
