The rooms are very old but cool. I love the antique atmosphere.

After loving our stay a few years ago, I was excited when I booked our room for our most recent stay. We checked in and took the elevator to our third floor room, only to walk out of the elevator onto unfinished floors, signs for tripping hazards, and into obvious renovations. Our room with a king bed seemed older and smaller than most. We had no idea that the hotel had suffered serious water damage and at no time had I been notified what we would be walking into. After driving all day, we were looking forward to having dinner and a cocktail at the hotel’s on-site restaurant. Upon arrival, the clerk informed us that the restaurant was closed for two weeks while the staff was on vacation. Again, the hotel has not updated anything to inform anyone of the restaurant’s short-term closure. Google searches showed that it was open and even the running billboard in front of the hotel invited you in for cocktails. After dropping our luggage in the third floor room and leaving the premises in search of dinner, we returned to the hotel and I informed the clerk how dissatisfied I was with our room. He was great and promptly reassigned us to a first floor king room with a lake view (but I had to ask for a different room - shouldn’t you already be assigning guests to the non-construction rooms, especially on a non-busy Wednesday evening?). The new room was a nice improvement. It seems that those big old windows have always been full of spiderwebs, but the lake view is fantastic. Breakfast of waffles, eggs, potatoes, and bacon was great. I’m hopeful that management will take some of these reviews to heart and ensure better transparency in the future.

We used to stay here in the 80’s/90’s and enjoyed it this time too. Highly recommend the lower level bar/restaurant. I had an experience with the on site ghost, although I had not known about its existence prior. Not scary, but interesting that the hotel has a book at the front desk outlining other reports over the years. All of the staff were great, room was good/clean.

For $250 I expect a hot tub, a hotel that’s not under construction, shampoo and conditioner, I was just saying I’m thankful the front desk was super nice comforting nice guy. I don’t think I would have any incentive to stay here again…
I will say the breakfast was nice. I was also a little frustrated that I was asked for tips three separate times and even by email I get it but pay your employees so they don’t have to rely on tips and you don’t have to rely on the public.
