I stayed at Hotel Indigo Vancouver Dwtn – Portland Area and it was easily one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve had—especially for the price. First off, the room itself was nothing special and absolutely not worth what they’re charging. But the real issue is the noise. I was on the eighth floor and it felt like I was sleeping on the street. All night long it was cars and motorcycles revving their engines, nonstop. On top of that, you can hear everything in the hallway like the walls are paper thin. At one point, I had to listen to someone screaming on the phone about their boyfriend like it was happening inside my room. The fact that they hand out earplugs should tell you everything you need to know. And yes, I actually had to use them just to get a little bit of sleep—which is ridiculous for a hotel in this price range. Then to top it off, I wake up in the morning hoping for at least a decent cup of coffee, and there aren’t even any coffee cups next to the machine. It’s a small detail, but at this price point, basic things like that shouldn’t be missed. For what you pay, you expect comfort and a decent night’s rest. Instead, you get noise, frustration, and a room that doesn’t come close to justifying the cost. Save your money and stay somewhere else. I definitely won’t be back.

We got good service and the location is just across the road from the waterfront green space, which was delightful. Without having tried all their classes of rooms, I might guess that river view could be your best choice. That said, the room felt smallish and the deco, from the lobby to the room, was quite modern and, I thought, sterile. Maybe that's an extreme characterization but, there was little about the decoration that added warmth or felt cozy. It somewhat irritated me that the hotel has the temerity to label the water bottles as complementary when they are offered as an amenity for which one pays an amenity fee. Here, as in most other places, these fees offer negative value for their clientele, and, of course, cannot be opted out of. Leaves a bad rate in my mouth every time.

If you’re here for the location it’s great! If you need a quiet night sleep not so much. River facing rooms have bad road noise, especially with the prevalent street racer and motorcycle revs SUPER annoying. Had to switch rooms away from the river. All else is great. Gym is average for a hotel of this caliber. Super nice rooms and AWESOME staff. Just lame window quality to block the noise.

Four stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐ — and ohhh it almost stole that fifth. Just got back from a stay at Hotel Indigo on the downtown Vancouver waterfront, and let me start with this: location-wise, it’s hard to beat. Sunshine dancing on the water, that crisp Vancouver air, and a view that makes you pause for a second longer than usual… yeah, that part delivered. The lobby sets the tone right away—small, cozy, fresh. Not trying too hard, just quietly cool. And the front desk team? Absolute gems. Friendly, accommodating, the kind of people who make you feel like you picked the right place before you even get your key. Now, the room (5th floor)… this is where things got a little mixed. The good: The bed? Super comfortable. Pillows? Just right. Sheets? Soft enough to notice (and that says something). And that waterfront view—worth waking up early for. The not-so-great: A few details felt… off. Towels were surprisingly thin. The lighting situation felt like solving a puzzle you didn’t sign up for. The safe didn’t feel very secure, which is never a great vibe. The shower had a very specific “hot spot” on the handle—miss it, and you’re in cold-water territory. And while the room looked nice at a glance, the floor and rug didn’t feel as clean as they should, with a couple of visible stains. All in all, it felt like a great hotel with a room that may have just needed a little extra attention. Would I come back? Honestly—yes. Because when this place is on point, I can tell it really shines. I’m chalking this one up to an off room, not an off hotel. And Vancouver? Still undefeated. 🌊☀️
