Luxury For All!
I was pleasantly surprised when I got a room at the Sound Hotel for a weekend visit to Seattle and staying there is not a decision you will regret! Upon arrival, you are greeted by some of the nicest folks that Seattle has to offer, with Matt and Jordan welcoming guests entering and leaving the hotel, always offering to lend a hand or provide recommendations. Once you go the front desk, you are immediately greeted by friendly front staff (Stephanie and Greg) who quickly check you into your hotel room. For guests who need luggage storage, they secure your bags while you explore the area with a bathroom and water dispenser for guests to use behind the front desk.
Hotel Location
The Sound is located in Belltown, 0.6km away from Westlake Train/Shopping Area. It is an easy train ride on the Link from SEA-TAC International Airport, which only costs $3.00 for a one way ticket, with a short walk to the hotel from Westlake train station. Pike Place Market is a ten minute walk away, with the waterfront (Aquarium, Ferry, Great Wheel) a further five minutes. The Space Needle is also a close fifteen minute walk, with South Lake Union and the waterfront pathway through Pocket Beach/Myrtle Beach Walk/Centennial Park/Elliott Bay perfect for a walk or run and extremely close by! For sports fan, the Stadium train station is easily accessible on the Link or a short ride share away.
Hotel Room
This is one of the few instances where the photos on the website exactly match what you walk into. The room was clean with a lovely welcome message for guests on the TV. The room was spacious with the décor modern and elegant, with motion sensor lights in the bathroom. Luxury brand Sashajuan is provided for guests to elevate the sensory experience in the spa like bathroom, a sustainable brand focused on high quality ingredients with a scent that is neither too masculine or feminine. The floor to ceiling windows throughout the room provides natural light, perfect for a solo yoga session in the room!
Facilities
The hotel has an exercise room on the 4th Floor, equipped with weights, treadmills, ellipticals, and a peloton bike. While small, it ensures you have everything you need for a quick workout uninterrupted. For business guests, there are meeting rooms that are perfect for events, with the Sound Bite Lounge located on the same floor that can be used for dining and networking events, with stunning views of Seattle's skyline! While staying there, there even was a well-attended cooking class and comedy show on the same night!
Attention to Detail - Guests First Approach
The hotel goes above and beyond to ensure that it caters to all guests, hence the “Luxury for All” title. The signage all has the legally required brail, there is an “Audio-Visual Door Alert” for the hearing impaired, and the rooms are spacious for individuals who may have accessibility issues. I can envision my Mum with her walker feeling comfortable staying at this establishment, with plenty of handle bars for her to use if needed and everything at a level that is accessible. Dave (Maintenance) and Barry (Manager) have made sure all guests are comfortable and can experience luxury as an independent person who deserves such treatment without feeling like a burden or afterthought.
I am currently 7 months pregnant, and the entire staff went out of their way to ask if I was comfortable and content with my accommodations. It was commented by the front staff that the Christmas tree was intentionally put up in the lobby for a group of guests who stayed the year before, because they told Barry how they loved to see the tree to start the holiday season. By the end of my stay, I felt like each staff member made great efforts to engage and get to know me, so it is not surprising that Barry would have made note of such a comment!
This guests first approach was deeply appreciated and shows the commitment that each individual, led by leadership, takes towards ensuring your stay is exquisite and luxurious for all.
